During the last millennium, before even Y2K threatened our way of life, an asteroid called Dottie jeopardized all life on Earth. 

The only people that could save us were Ben Affleck and Bruce Willis, but there was a problem- Bruce didn't like Ben, and that dislike increased when Bruce Willis found out that Ben was sleeping with his daughter, Liv Tyler.  To further complicate matters, Liv's real father, Steven Tyler and his band provided the soundtrack for the whole thing, except when Ben occasionally sang "Leaving on a jet plane."

Even though he actually left on a rocket.

They didn't carry Swiss Army Knives, but they did have nuclear weapons and some drill rigs that had the Victorinox symbol on them.

Despite much of the team being killed in the attempt, we really only are expected to feel bad when Bruce Willis sacrifices himself at the end to save the Earth, while Ben Affleck and Steve Buscemi return safely to the ground.

To commemorate Bruce's sacrifice, Victorinox released a number of Pioneer models with the Armageddon logo lasered into the blade.

This is one of those knives.

Music was good, Bruce was brave.

I feel pretty sure that if Bruce had been equipped with a Work Champ XL the whole asteroid problem could have been solved in the first reel, and he could have spent the rest of the movie using it as the world’s heaviest beer opener.

The etymology of "Armageddon" is interesting. Per the interwebs, it derives from the Hebrew Har Megiddo (הר מגידו), meaning "Mountain of Megiddo," referring to the ancient city and strategic valley of Megiddo in Israel.  It was a site famous for many historical battles, eventually becoming symbolic for the final, cataclysmic clash between good and evil in the Book of Revelation.

And yes, it's still safe and sound. Currently it is in my storage unit along with most of my collection following the flood a couple of years ago.  I happened to be there yesterday for something else entirely and opened a box, just to see what was in there.

Of course I mentioned Liv Tyler.

She wanted to be with Ben Affleck and her father couldn't bear to watch her make such a stupid decision that he flew off to an asteroid and blew himself up with a nuclear weapon.

That's pretty much the whole premise of the movie, right?  Dad finds a way to tolerate daughter's bad decisions?

I took it more like DAD sacrificed himself, so his daughter could continue to live life the fullest even making bad decisions. 

That is how DADs roll when they have daughters.

Having DAD that was a bad ass is just icing on the cake!  What potential husband can actual thrive living in that shadow. She has all the power.

So, he knew that of his daughter was dumb enough to marry Ben Affleck (see JLo, TWICE!), that at least she wouldn't have to pay taxes the rest of her life
