No new watches until next year
on: December 23, 2025, 02:20:00 PM
No new watches, or really any new toys until next year.  That's the rule, because you never know what you might find under the tree after Santa has been here.

But I broke that rule and I almost managed to upstage Kirky and his Tale of Three Casios:  https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,94513.0.html

But I fell short with two Casios and a Coleman.

And again, I have no one to blame but myself as these were purchased from the coworker I accidentally got addicted to watches, as outlined in this thread:  https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,94272.0.html

He bought a watch lot and these were thrown in as they "didn't work.". He didn't have any desire for them as they aren't his style, so he offered me the three of them for the princely sum of $40 CAD.  How could I say no?

Especially once the two G Shocks sprung back to life once taken out of the drawer they had been kept in previously?   :D

Funny how they both say SOLAR on them and die when they spend a long time tucked away in the dark!

I'll post more about them later once I've had a better chance to play with them, but for now, enjoy these photos!

And even though it isn't a G Shock, the Coleman still looks pretty cool!

Rules were made to be broken.  Except in marriages and MTO challenges.  I think.  Never saw a Coleman watch before.  I like that sort of watch and especially the G's.  Best wishes.  Gary

Me neither.  I wonder if Casio made the internals.
May the best of your past, be the worst of your future.

I don't think so as the buttons are in a different configuration than usual for Casios, although the same can be said for the triple sensor G Shock there as well.

Usually Casio has a very specific four button arrangement.

This is actually my third Coleman watch.

Coincidentally this also makes three Solar G Shocks too.   :D

As far as I can see, you bought the watches before you made the thread... so no new watches until next year is still within reach ;) Not many more days to go - you can do it!

I bought two watches this year. I bought these last two rather reluctantly to close some gaps in my collection that have bugged me for a while, but in general I've lost interest in chasing new acquisitions and feel like I'm close to my (wrist watch) endgame.
I'd like to add a yellow G-shock with a tide function one day, if I come across one. Preferably MIP display, but regular (positive) LCD isn't a dealbreaker. Beyond that, there's nothing more I'd like to add.

I wouldn't have been able to say no for that price. The first G-Shock in particular appeals to me.

And somehow I've managed to keep my spending under control this year. I've only acquired a couple-few multis, and no new watches or other tools.

Yes, I was on a job site with that coworker for months when I agreed to buy the watches.  Before he could get them to me I was reassigned and I haven't seen him since August or September.

Usually the toy moratorium is enacted in November, so this didn't count anyway.  I met up with him at the staff pizza party yesterday which is why I finally got them.

So yeah, you are right, I did get them before so they don't count!
