I saw these on clearance at Princess Auto a year or so ago and I ordered a couple of them. I gave the second one to my father. It's a laser measuring tape, and it works great for doing things like measuring the rooms in a house.  Just put it on the wall, fire the laser at the opposite wall and you get an instant measurement on the screen.

I have used it a few times, and it comes with some extra bits that fit on the top to let it measure things in different ways, but all in all I really find this thing handy.

It won't replace a measuring tape, but it sure helps when measuring rooms that are wider than most measuring tapes are long.

I'd say it is indeed a power(ed) tool...and it could be quite a useful one! :tu:

I bought one in the 90’s but it used sound not laser (so it was analog?!) I used it for my side business when I needed square footage of rooms to quote a price (I sprayed stucco on ceilings). I bet yours is more accurate but I just needed mine to be within a foot and it was. They are very useful and cool  :tu:

It's a handy little Dremel unit, and I'm pretty happy with it.  Fortunately I'm bilingual and can do Metric and Imperial measurements and go back and forth relatively easily.

Sometimes I'd rather have metric measurements and this one just does imperial measurements, so it's a bit of a drawback to it.  Maybe a newer, fancier or more expensive unit might do that, but for now I'm happy with this one.

I'll get some photos of the add ons as soon as I can.
