I was browsing YouTube: and I came across perhaps one of the worst rescue knife designs, ever! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FE24uR8DLII&feature=related When seconds count, your not going to be able to open the dame thing!

I like the blade design for it's intended purpose, but the deployment method leaves a lot to be desired. It would be easier to just make it a one handed opening blade with a thumb stud and liner-lock. It would also make it less bulky.

Interesting none the less.

Common sense ..... so rare, it's virtually a super power.

Can't say that I see why the bloody things are so illeagal . They are very clumsy . I had one for a while , but gave it to a collector friend .

They are illegal here too- they had a bad connotation following the second World War since they were made famous by the German paratroopers.  Like the Italian stilettos, anyone that carried or used them was a "bad guy."

My opinion is that guy does not know how to open it correctly...there is a reason it is called a "Gravity" knife. It is supposed to be pointed downwards when releasing the blade. The blade is loose enough in the slide that flicking it is not always necessary.

They have incredable side play and the blade is ( on the originals ) designed to collapse with about 18lbs. of force , on contact with a solid object . Those who were issued them mostly used the marlin spike as a weapon . Iberson in Sheffield made a few unmarked ones in WWII , the things have about zero trackrecord as weapons .
