on: March 04, 2009, 12:49:16 PM
According to NASA speSmurfpillst in about three weeks life on earth will not be the same again.
It is coming.
The population of Estonia has been warned and the people of Tartu will be evacuated within the next few days.

Shadowed by the mighty Surge there is a little Juice cs 4.

Hope to get you some pics of the crash and the crater it leaves too.

Nice picture how did you do that?
The background and the tool pics are from google, the editing was done within Photoshop: Filter > Stylise > Wind (applied about 4 times).
I relaid on this tutorial http://9tutorials.com/2007/06/27/create-flaming-meteor.html but didn't use all the fancy effects.

Thanks for the warm welcome!
It is said that the Estonians favorite dish is another Estonian, but to everybody else we are very nice.
(In Canadia there is really a big population of Estonians, who fled during the II WW. Other popular destinations were Sweden and Australia. Most of the new emigrants are in Ireland.)

Hope to post soon a little oveview of the post cataclysm rebuilding plan. :multi:

Thought I should give a little overview of the post cataclysm rebuilding plan.

1. Why multitool? Since for a few weeks I had seen some multis in shops but newer had considered buying one. I had hadden for years the plan of getting a swis knife, but newer had the money and so on (students life - but know I´m a phd student with a state stipendium). Some old soviet made pocket knives i own aren`t very user friendly. I used to carry one in school, and had because of that always bottomless pockets.
Anyway a few weeks ago I was again in a stupid situation in witch I would´t have been if I would have haden a knife. So when I was sitting at home with my sic son (he had the flu) we decided to search a good knife for daddy.  :tool:

2. Why Leatherman? Pure coincidence. I started to search for a swis knife and accidentally stumbled upon the swistool. And then googling on, found in an local off-road forum the discussion Gerber vs. Leatherman. SOG was mentioned, but since SOG does not have a local distributor, nobody had one. So the manufacture circle was fixed.
In real I did had the change to see one of the swistools, some Gerbers and I guess a Leatherman Kick. The Swistool looks like ikea furniture - just boring, Gerber looks and feels like a cheep combination of SOG, Swistool and Leatherman, but what I saw of the Wave in youtube was far more superior that all the others. It just looks cool. The guys in the off-road forum agreed that a multitool is like a Hummer - just an extension. Now think of the Leathermans singel hand open blade, what could be more phallocratic.  :D
But seriously I like the Leatherman (Wave, Charge, Surge) because it´s not pliers with a knife, its as well a knife as pliers, not a compromise.
From the legal point of view, Estonian law allows locking blades when not longer than 8,5 cm. (The Surge sells freely here, so I guess its shorter). When leaving the country I just take my Juice with me.

3. Why Surge? The biggest problem with a multitool is that its just one tool. But if you need at the same time pliers to hold something and the screwdriver to screw you are in trouble. The solution- get two multis :D But witch ones, it was clear that one would have to be a Juice, a small help when in need, or if the bigger one is in some situation too big to carry. But the bigger one should be than what. I thought of he wave, but why get a middle size tool, if I already have a small one, no the other has to be the biggest there is - right?  :D
And a purely practical point, the Surge has gotten a lot cheaper, in Amazon.uk it was even cheaper than the Wave.
Why Juice? A video review of the Skeletool proved that the blade and the pliers are the same size, as the Juice cs 4-s, but the cs 4 has a lot more tools, and that´s the important point isn´t it  :P

4. What will I have when the package arrives? Surge with leather sheath, Juice cs 4 plus sheath, bit extension and the bit cit.
The Juice is on the picture shadowed by the surge not only because of the size, but because it is storm gray in colour.
Ordered it all from Amazon.com. They did not want to ship it to Europoe, but luckily, we have here a firm who mediates e-bay traffic. So with a small extra fee, this problem was solved, and as a bonus I do not have to deal my self with the coll papers and other stuff.

Sorry for the bad English. If it´s a consulatoin, than my Estonian grammar is as bad.

I sure hope so. Decided for it before finding you fellows here, and was (actually still am) worried about EDC. But still wanted to have a good tool, and the Surge has about everything there is and some extra flexibility as a bonus. So I was very happy to find so many satisfied Surge EDC-s around here. If it breaks me, it will land in my bicycle tool bag (first have to get one  :P ), to were it is actually meant and the Juice will be the EDC on me, but we will see, can´t wait to get my hands on it.
