Thumps pushed you find your Tool again, in some of the cases of missing Multitools it might be its stuff between sofa pillows.. , I have 2 Missing Tools as well : an Black Camper that came bundled whit an Victorinox Watch I got 25 years ago, and an Delemont Collections S557..

I did decide to go all in whit my carry : Swisschamp in an Brown Belt Holster, Spirit clipped in to my outher Pantspocket, and Ratchett in my EDC Pouch..

Im still got the issue that sometimes the Tools are Nailbreaking Stuck in the SpiritX, which is quite strange.. sometimes after i did fold them out a few times they are running again fine ..
~
~

Your  “nail breaking issue” you experience with your SPIRIT has me perplexed and when that happens I over think things.

I have two SPIRIT  X models  beside the MXBS.  A BUTTER BLADE and a PE blade.   These units do not give me issues accessing the implements, even after being ignored for a few weeks.

And since you mention that after opening and closing a few times the tools are OK.

I  am now curious if your lubricant may cause your issue.

I utilize a light mineral oil, applied to the pivot points and wipe away any access.

Another product I use on non food knives is a product called KPL (knife pivot lube).

Sewing machine oil is another very light oil that also does not attract dust and lint that would create gunk built up.

Just a thought.   Good luck and awl the best! :multi:

:iagree:  As long as you're not using it for food, I have a dropper with synthetic motor oil in it that does a bang up job too.

I did not lubricate my Spirit yet, its still got the oil from the victorinox factory, might be this did bind some pocket lint or dust? I did test it this afternoon to open all the tools and beside the Scissor which where a bit stiff, i did not got issues opened them ..

Swisschamp in Belt Pouch makes mee too wide, so i did decide to go back to Swisstool + Minichamp ..

EDIT: I also had back then the same issue whit some Tools on the Delemont Collection S17 where the Can Opener did not want to open ..

You can open the longer tools on the Spirit at least whit the whole Finger ^^

I can’t overstate how helpful the chisel tool is for so many tasks.  I had to recaulk the bathroom sink and it proved better than a utility blade at scraping away around contours.

That chisel was probably the most used tool on my Spirit besides the scissors. Paid for itself many times over!  :salute:

Count me in 😇
Even if I already own two Swisstool X, I couldn't resist to buy this Spirit X Plus Ratchet NIB and at 50% of retail price (web shop closing, it was the last one...)

The Chissel is really the most usefull tool on this Spirit, and the Pliers ..  , expecially whit this Paket Opener Edge ^^ , This should have been an Implement on the Swisschamp instead this useless Fishscaler..
Im still wonder if i should Beltcarry the Spirit, but i have around 65 kg, so i would have been double as thick whit the Spirit Belt Pouch on my Belt ..

I like the idea of the chisel end on the file on some of the next tool and gerber dual force, but don’t have them to compare.  The combo chisel and wire stripper is quite the awesome implement.

I belt carry my spirit when I can, mostly because I need the pocket space for other things. I washed a pocket full of nails screws and bolts the other day.

I’m working on a project in my lab that requires an aluminum bracket to mount against and extruded aluminum frame. Normally these brackets fit in line with the frame and the tabs hold fit in the bolt track.  I have to offset 3 of them to rotate 90 degrees.

We have a dremel in shared tools in our space, but it is of course no where to be found, and I did not anticipate needing mine today.  So, my Spirit file took down 12 of these tabs in about 15-20 minutes.  Not ideal but also not a difficult task.

Now it’s clear I need to bring in my own Dremel in the tool bag, and probably another Spirit while I’m at it.

Very nice!

Just the right size for task.  You very likely had better control with file than the Dremel.

Thanks, LC.  I was also thinking that. We will never know with how well the spirit file worked!

Please, help me to identify the Swisstool Spirit (discontinued) with (butter) serrated blade: is it Swisstool Spirit S or Swisstool Spirit XC?
Thanks.  :hatsoff:

I have my box for mine and the BUTTERBLADE  is labeled as 3.0227.

Pointed blade is 3.0224.

I thought the X denoted scissors, but not aware of a letter for blade type.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

The bottom label is the pointed blade model

Top was for the Butterblade.  Both have scissors.

The original Spirt with butter blade was designated XC.  The S is the plain edge and serrated model, with no scissors.  The X which yeah does mean scissors is the current model with plain edge blade.

I haven’t carried my Alox 2 for a bit. I think I’ll give it a try swapping for my Explorer to carry with the Spirit and Rally for a bit. I made dinner with these two blades (after a very deep clean of the Spirit).

I have two absolutely brand new Swisstool Spirit X plain edge and one as EDC (don't know why I need so many).
I should have bought the XC ("butter" knife) when it was still available and not discontinued.

 cheers Vadim.  The XC blade is great. There’s usually some good condition used ones on the bay. Lately I haven’t seen any for decent prices, but mine was $80 and that was the going rate for a while.  Maybe some will pop back up.

Originally, the butter blade version was just the Spirit.  The "XC" designation didn't come until many years later.

According to SAKWiki, at the time the Spirit became the Spirit XC, the Spirit S (two blades) became just the Spirit, to further confuse matters...

I feel really lucky to have an XC

I reasoned that if I have a serrated two handed blade in my MT, it would complement a pocketknife better

It's a shame they dont make butter blade spirits anymore
