I can't believe it is over 10 years later and still, nobody has come out with something to fill this niche.
Apparently even Leatherman is aware of it and just thinks its not worth it.

Working in a data center / telecom environment one of the things that is a constant struggle is having to remove zip ties.
The tool of choose is almost always a pair of side / diagonal cutters.
Most of the engineers and techs I encounter carry a multi tool and several of us have always wondered why nobody has ever developed a tool that replaces the pliers with a proper pair of cutters.
Is there a technical/cost/commercial reason why this has never been done?

No not really a technical cost. More of an opportunity cost.
We like to make tools for everyone and most people want needle nose and regular pliers.
I personally think vice grips or slip joints are the way to go in most cases.
I guess the best answer is that there isn’t a viable means of making all the variations yet.
