I hadn't read your thread until now. I am not sure the plier opens wide as a sog. it is just wider than the charge. also the tool is to thick for the gears. I will try. if it doesn't work than a super bear jaws probably will.

Any chance you could post a picture? Maybe a side-on comparison of the cutter head alongside a SOG PowerLock?

I have tried three tools so far.
the ppp gears are smaller so they do not get in the way. you could put the cutter on it but it won't fit in th handles. the only mod it needs is the metal around the hole for the screws is wider than the metal around the holes on the ppp.so some of it will need to be filed off. I might do that. it is okay with me if I can't fold it.
the power plier fits fine with washers if it wasn't for the gears. on the pp the gears are larger and longer than the ppp and by the time you get to the end of the longer gears the cutter is too thick to fit between the gears.
I am on my phone and will post pics tomorrow from a computer.

Hoo-boy, those really are fat aren't they? :-\

I'd want the tool to fold up, so that means the entire thickness of the Saber Tooth cutter head would need to be ground down. :(  I wonder if the pivot would fall apart then?

actually it would fit if you remove the longer impliments. sorry about the spelling. you will need to grind below the pivot or remove the gears. the handle is fine but the gears will get in the way

Any developments Bob?

OT, but now that SOG aren't doing this anymore is the best and only real option the MP600 with the cable cutters?  Not really interested in the strippers.

Only developement is my intent to go back to Plan "A", and use the ACE brand cutters. I'm thinking there are too many hurdles to jump over with the Sabertooth cutter head that Scrappy has. :-\

As regards the Gerber Cable Cutter, don't bother trying it unless you're positive you'll never try cutting steel wire with it. The cutter jaws are of the bypass type (unlike the anvil type jaws used on sidecutters) and they have a sharply ground edge.

Which means the Gerber Cable Cutter will work fine cutting soft copper or rope or small tree limbs, but it will immediately "notch" if used on steel wire or fencing or similar. :-\

The PowerCut would have been the first. :-\  I think that's why everyone was so excited about it. Such a shame that SOG hasn't worked out the bugs. :(

Indeed I have, but we're talking wire cutters here, and the short cutter section on the 155EL is really no better than that of most other multitools. :-\

What do you think of this cutter head do you think it would work? They sell them at Home Depot and under the Kobolt name at Lows. They are compound wire cutters they also sell them in needle nose. I think i am going to buy one of these cutters. http://www.cooperhandtools.com/brands/CF_Files/model_detail.cfm?upc=037103216847

Whew! It took 5 months to get done, but was really only a few hours of actual work. Sorry I didn't take more photos in-process. :-\ The final product came out pretty well I think: :)
