I knew you'd have the answers ;D So the SC2 was for sams club. Was the pro also for them?

The Juice Pro was reportedly made as a big special order for Costco. It packs in a lot of functions, but is almost uncarryably fat as a result. (I still like it though)  :)

Sams Club, Costco, there almost the same, right? Anway, the Pro never apealed to me at all. I don't get the huge small tool thing I guess. :D Oh well, I'm done derailing this great thread now.

Added a few more, including the Spyderco Byrd Harp (2006) and the Leatherman Skeletool and Genus. Also put the whole list on the Tool Wiki so it would be easier to find and update down the road:  http://multitool.sosakonl...p?page=Multitool+Timeline

Anybody see any tools we are missing??

The problem is I'm not sure when those two were introduced.  ???  This being a reference-type thread, I hate to just put down my best guess. Anyone out there know for certain about these two?

Welcome back Doug- I hope your health problems aren't too serious?  Been wondering where you were!

We are going to try and include as many manufacturers as possible, including the Chinese ones if we can made head or tails out of anything that comes from there.

Hi Bob ,

Just popped in for a quick visit . I have had a series of health concrns of late . When looking at your time line I found myself wondering if you had something against the Utica Toolmaster and the rest of thier line ?

Howdy Doug, hope you are on the road to recovery!

I've got nothing against any models not currently on the list, I'm just uncertain of their introduction date. Again, given that this is to be a reference source, I hate to simply guess.

So it appears that we are developing a second list...a list of major tools with unknown introduction dates:
Gerber 600 Multi-Plier
Gerber 700 Urban Legend
Kutmaster MultiMaster
BuckTool 350
BuckTool 355
SOG Power Plier
SOG Pocket Power Plier
SOG Crosscut
SOG Crossgrip

Any more for this list? Any ideas on how to get them dated correctly?

Referencing this page it looks like the Buck350 came out in 1998.

What about the Gerber Multi-Lite? The earliest review I found was from 7/1998.

Earliest for the Paradox was 10/2001.

I've got some forums I can post questions on so I may have some more information.

I seem to remember Bear jaws having something in thier line that was not " tooly " enough to be of great interest to me though they listed it with thier other multis for a time . I do not recall the name of that one .

Was it this? Link

I am glad to see this project being undertaken , I hope that when finished it will be archived somewhere for easy access

I don't think we will ever see it finished, but it will certainly be archived!

I posted a question about the BuckTools over on a Buck moderated forum, we'll see what answers we get!

The only answer I've gotten so far about the Buck 355 is that someone thought it came out the same year as the 350...

The list in the very first post has been updated. I added the Kutmaster tool in 1988, as well as the 25th anniversary Leatherman tools in 2008.

Any more?
