SOG Nautical
on: January 21, 2011, 04:00:20 AM
I know this was started in the other thread, but I'm breaking it up to show this specific knife, which I think is beautiful.

Like the Contractor series, this one feels pretty solid, and I look forward to testing one out.

Sorry for digging up an old thread, but has anyone had a play with on of these?  I was wondering about the knife lock type. Does it lock or is it a slip joint?

I know the contractor II is a slip joint, so was trying to see about this one.

No Nautical here, but you might wanna try out the West Marine at $20 before paying $70 (or something) for the SOG rebrand.. ::)

Btw. I had this conversation on FB with SOG earlier this year..:

Hi SOG did you see my question about the West Marine/Nautical.?

Yes we did Allan, working on an Answer.

Yes, we are producing the knife for West Marine and the SOG Nautical is similar and uses higher grade materials, such as titanium liners.

::) ::)

Yeah right, $50 worth of titanium liners...  ;)

Allan, I am SOOO glad you posted that link AFTER I'd bought my Christmas presents.

If I'd seen THIS and THIS before, my friends and family might have been very disappointed in me this year. I just hope I remember these once my finances heal so I can inflict terrible pain on them again  >:D

For that much they could've at least used half decent steel like aus 8.

Thanks for the info, very useful to know. Looking at the reviews on the west Marine site it is a slipjoint, only the spike has a lock.

Yes.
Somebody should upgrade the corresponding :poke: emoticon.
Showing poking with a branch in MTO is obsolete. What are we? Cavemen? Shouldn't we have a multitool or SAK blade to use for that? It is humiliating for people who own hundreds of tools that cost a fortune. :)

I've been carrying this knife for a week or so and I have to say the marlin spike rocks, just wish the blade was OHO. IMO this knife compliments a MT ever so nicely .
