Surprise!
on: January 19, 2012, 05:58:25 AM
This morning we arrived for our meeting at Leatherman and we were quickly ushered into an office.  When we were inside and the door was closed Bob's radar started acting up and we knew something was a bit off.  See if you can spot what got his attention in the photo below:

Did you see it?

Don't cheat!

Yup, you guessed it... ORANGE FUSE!

Not too shabby!  :D

That is cool!  Do we know yet whether they are actually going to discontinue the Blast/Fuse/Kick or is it still conjecture?

hmmmmm...again, distaste for the Wingman/Sidekick would subside if they came in black :)

I like where this is going (i.e. adding color) but don't really like that orange.

We're told that this is the latest in a series of special combo-packs that Leatherman is running. The coloring is actually cera-kote, which has a good reputation for toughness. :)
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

Agreed! When I started reading this I thought it was just another "don't look at it or the colour will fall off" tool  :-\ good to see they've put some durability in. I like the look of this, but don't know if I like it enough.

Might be a nice ugrade chassis for my Roundhouse mod (Kick) but I'd lose the clip if I did

It looks like there is a watch in the combo pack that the orange Fuse was in.   Is Leatherman selling watches now?

Hmm...
I don't think it's a watch, it looks more like a flashlight to me...

That is indeed a flashlight combo pack.  Leatherman is really promoting their LED Lenser lights.

I might not be a Fan of the Leatherman Line like I used too...(I am very pleases with my Swisstool),but I really like the Concept of an Orange Tool with a Durable Finish..As a Driver I have no idea how many times I have used a Multi Tool on the side of the road somewhere in less tha favorable conditions..As in the Dark and of course Snow while making an Emergency repair to keep rolling. I have had a few "Oh Crap" moments scrambling to locate my Multi where the Orange Color would have been a Godsend..Please ask Leatherman if they would sit down with some Truck Drivers and design a Multi just for Us..There is a whole lot of us folks out here travelling up and down the Highways day in and day out...

Corvallis is an awesome town.  Great cycling, close to skiing, close(ish) to Portland.  Nice place to live.  I didn't know Tim L was a Beaver, but it makes sense--young Oregon engineer....

I'd imagine a hi-vis (high visibility) multitool would be a great benefit in quite a few walks of life. There's been knife options like that for ages, but it's a concept which hasn't really transferred to MT's.

Wenger Rangers perhaps? (mmmmm Ranger 90  ) Juice S2 & KF4 maybe?
Other than that we've mainly had to resort to tying on a brightly coloured bit of string  :-\
