84mm metal file?
« on: January 26, 2012, 12:21:47 AM »
Did Vic ever make one? I see an knife I want, says it 84mm 5 layer. What's up with that. Is it a variant that finally popped up?

I'm sure they did, but they're not common.

Yes they have made them.  Like Gareth said, they are not too common.  If you send me a SAK with on I'll put it on SAKwiki.  I don't think I own one yet, but I could be mistaking.

Seems metal files have never been too popular on SAKs... maybe slowly the new SS version will change that.  It could be also given they were more difficult to make with all the different steps it was  not worth it.  Now that they have machines to cut it directly into the same SS they are probably less expensive to manufacture, and they work better for most things.

I was looking at this too.  Its an Artisan plus metal file layer.  Something about it doenst look right, but I cant put my finger on it.  My first thought was it was an old knockoff, but now Im not sure.

Here are 2 ebay auctions with 5 layer 84mm knives that include the metal file.

Take a look at the top 2 bidders on the one that already sold and notice 1 of them has already got a bid on the next one. Not likely to get it cheap. Best bet is to find a buy it now with one in it. Not very likely that will happen either.

Yeah well if I don't win that one it's no biggie. I can always cut a regular file down to fit. There is one other one I'm drooling after and I'm winning that one!

And it seems we have our infamous 3***3 ( 139) scam bidder/retracter bidding on it too  First bidder on the active one.
