I know nothing about the type of knife offered here ,
but $2,999.99 seems a bit pricey.
Maybe Crazy .

Oh damn it,  just my luck ,at the new bargain price ($2,100 minus a penny) he doesn't ship to my country

Correction, he now does ship overseas for $48  & $805 import charges (gotta love Global Shipping)
Should I pull the trigger on this one ?

There are a lot of Case collectors out there. Maybe he knows something we don't. Then again maybe he's just crazy/greedy/optimistic (take your pick).

Another BSA Pioneer, not NIB this time. Maybe the last $500 selling price was motivating.  :-\

+1  His other knives seemed about right price wise....maybe that's the holy grail for Case collectors.

Yeah, maybe but for $2k+ is it too much to ask for pictures that are actually in focus!? It kills me when people are trying to sell something for a good amount of money and their pics are just terrible. Lol!

You're right.
Like I said, I know nothing about these knives (Case collection)
But it reminds of the pencil guy selling pencils on the street corner - $500 apiece.
Guy hears the price and says "you won't sell many at that price "
"Well ,I just have to sell ONE " the pencil guy says.

What makes you think they aren't? If it were me I wouldn't say anything after other members just finished talking about how absurd the price was.

At least it has toned down these days. A year or so ago it wasn't unusual for the members to actually call these winners names and belittle them.

Indeed, I have paid embarrassing amounts for a few (birth year Soldier for example). I only admit to the ones I got a good deal on, which luckily is more often the case.  :D

I would hope nobody is getting insulted by anyone here, MTO peeps are pretty nice folks from what I've seen. To point out an absurd price or a greedy seller is what this thread is all about IMO, not to berate buyers who have unlimited funds. I think if I had unlimited funds it wouldn't hurt my feelings at all to overpay for something I wanted, no matter what anyone says, but that's just me.

The only thing that makes a couple of my purchases embarrassing is the fact that I paid too much with regards to the budget I set for this modest hobby. I simply can't afford to pay much more than the market value for collection pieces, and hurray for those who can, but I'll still think it's absurd, and will probably say so.  :salute:

I'd pay a lot for the right knife but for me it's perception. It's hard to pay 150+ bucks for red ALOX because I've seen them at $25-$40 for so long but a vintage stag GEC folder at $150 seems a fair price. That being said, for the right OC Farmer, at the right time, I might go $200.00. So to sum it up.....

...I have no idea what's going on.

Absolutely, I paid much more for GEC knives that were much less capable than my SAKs, so it's all pretty relative to the market.  :)
