  • Any tool is better than nothing. Some not by much
As of the posting of this thread, there's a deal going on at Home Depot stores in the U.S. Here's a thread discussing the matter...
http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,42048.0.html

That deal is a combo pack of the Leatherman Wingman and Style CS, at $20, and in some places $15.

I have been a proponent of the Wingman as a low-cost tool for about a year now, but that's not what this thread is about.

This is about 'the other tool'. The 'freebie'. The best pair of scissors on a multitool... maybe ever.

In all the excitement and discussion of the Wingman at bargain prices, I haven't heard a lot of talk about the Style CS, and there SHOULD be. In essence, it has about the same features as a Victoinox Classic, minus toothpick, but with carabiner/Caplifter. It weighs about twice as much as a Vic Classic, but it has much heavier duty scissors.

MUCH heavier.

I know I've gone on and on about being a lefty, and how that makes slop in scissors an issue, but it really does make me sensitive to how good a pair is.

here's my findings on my scissor test...
http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,36798.msg677155.html#msg677155

On a day-to-day basis, the first and most important tool on my EDC is scissors, followed a good way off by blade. everything else falls far behind those two. That makes this tool very nice for my needs and wants. Rambler is getting bumped out of EDC for the time being, for this to get a go.

Oh the best ever huh?  I may have to check one of these out.  I too place scissors high up on the list of what I want as part of my EDC (preferably as part of a SAK).  I may have to reconsider that if I ever get the chance to try one of these.

They are good but the carabiner is not so great.

I've heard a number of other reports of folks not happy with the carabiner, but I haven't had any problem with the one on my Style PS. I assume it'll be the same with the CS.

Still, it's a good thing to know to keep an eye out for.  :salute:

I agree about the scissors, they are very capable and I'm a lefty who can't get on with a lot them too. I also really like the PS, although it has the teeny weeny scissors instead I have found the pliers to be very useful - I might try carrying both alternately to see how they fare :)

At $20, that was a ridiculously good deal!

I think we should open up a Leftorium store on EDCsource. We may have the largest concentration of southpaws on the net. :ahhh

So,it's buy a CS,get a free Wingman?

Thing with the carabiner is don't use it,slip a split ring into the holes in the lower frame as an attachment point, and open bottles with the carabiner  :D
There is no beginning,or ending, and for this we are thankful, cos now is hard enough to understand!

I've been EDC'ing a Style CS for a couple of weeks now. I'm definitely impressed by the scissors. The same size as Micra scissors, but with an overall better fit. The large size of the tool in the open position allows for tons of leverage. A great little tool to combo with the Skeletool CX. I'm totally impressed by the Style CS.

I've just been attaching the carabiner to the belt loop of my pants, until I find a better way. Fortunately, my belt loop is wide enough that the binder could never fall off accidentally.

Because I have a Crosscut, and Micra, I ended up trading these with a friend last night, to get her a better pair of EDC scissors. I'd given her a Gerber mini-suspension 2-pack for her birthday a couple years ago, and while they're okay, they're also HEAVY. So, I traded her Mini Suspension S for my Leatherman Style CS. It has a good home now.

I finally have to agree with one of your assessments.  The Style CS is an awesome little mt.  I really don't have any major complaints about it.   :D
