Review of Netto Multitool

First off, I'm sorry, but I couldn't find a more suitable title. As far as I know, there is no real name for this multitool and it seems that it's made exclusively for a store called Netto; although I'm fairly sure it's close to being a clone of a Leatherman or Gerber.

It's advertised as a 12-function multitool and comes with a nylon sheath. It has the standard needlenose-plier, wire cutter and regular pliers, all spring-loaded. When opened, you get access to the other tools, which is pretty much what you'd expect: Knife, Philips and slotted screwdriver and to-sided file in one side - saw, bigger slotted screwdriver, awl and combined bottle/can opener on the other side. Mind you, that a 3 dimensional Philips, not a flat one like on a Leatherman.

The two center tools in each side (the screwdrivers and the awl) all has a tab to help opening them. And, to be honest, that is truly needed. Even after giving the whole thing a bit of oil, they're really tight to open and if you open one, you risk another one following with it.
Regarding the tight tools, it seems like it could be loosened a bit, if you've got the right tools, although I've never come across anything that was made for the bolts at the pivots.

Nonetheless, for the price of 50 DKK (just about 9,5 USD) it's actually quite good. The pliers are a good size and you've got a good grip on the handles. Despite the price, it seems like it can take a beating and if it broke, you wouldn't even shed a tear, with the price.

I haven't really used the screwdrivers and file yet, but I can confirm that the saw works well on wood, the knife and awl is acceptably sharp from the factory and you feel like you can really get a grip on things with the pliers. From the looks of it though, it seems as if the can opener is actually sharper than the knife-blade.

Pros:
- Cheap
- Good grip
- Spring loaded pliers

Cons:
- Tight implements
- Has to open the tool, to get to the implements
- Cheap (worried about quality)

Conclusion: If you're just starting to get interested about multitools, you need something cheap to not care too much for or your friends/colleagues/family constantly want to borrow your primary multitool, this is the tool for you! Let them borrow it for half an hour and then let them know how cheap it really is. The inside tools is a matter of taste, but personally I can't stand them.

Yes, more of a Ganzo tool than anything else copied from Gerber. I have this same exact model, and quite often, it may or may not have Stanley written on it, especially here in Canada.

These tools are your typical "Chinese" patterned multi-tools. They are usually cheaply made especially when you look at the internal tools...but the handles and quite often the pliers are quite well made for what it is.

I can safely say, I wouldn't mind using this to loosen up a big, rusty bolt. Where as my normal EDC is more for bending paperclips and use as tweezers.

You feel confident, that the pliers can do the job.

Nice to see other folks posting reviews on 'affordable' tools. How are the file and saw? And, did the blade come sharp?

I can forgive almost anything in a low-cost MT, but it always makes me made when blades come dull.

Well, I wouldn't call the blade razor sharp, but sharp enough that you could cut yourself. However, I wouldn't want to cut through insulated wires with the factory sharpness. I think it would be doable, but not pleasant.
The saw... I'd say it works as you'd expect from such a small saw and cheap tool. It works, but it takes time.
