Yup, I have read several of them and they are awesome. Quite different from the movies (less over the top) and its commonly Bonds enemies that have the Gadgets! Also he is an alcoholic, wine for lunch two bottles of champaign and some vodka in the evening
I read the books decades ago. They weren't that great. If you're looking for a great read, a couple of recommendations:"The Day of the Jackal", by Frederick Forsyth (the movie version was also great) "Midnight Plus One", by Gavin Lyall
Of the movies? Depends on the mood I'm in. Connery yes,Moore no,not as such,Dalton no,and Brosnan yes. Those Daniel Craig things arn't Bond.As to the books? I think I've read all of Flemmings originals, and they vary from ok to brilliant. Funny enough,I reckon Casino Royale to be one of the best. I've read tons of the John Gardner continuations, which are kind of ok to bloody aweful( though his Herbie Kruger books are just brilliant ).Anything since Gardner stopped writing Bond should be avoided like the plauge!
I pretty much enjoy all of the Bond films, but yes, some are MUCH better than others. Brosnan was my favourite Bond, followed by Connery.

Quote from: MadPlumbarian on November 22, 2014, 05:54:35 AM... but want to read the books, my only thing is I'm not a readerWe got 'Casino Royale' and 'Live and Let Die' as audio books from our library to listen to on a long road trip. That worked out excellently. The only problem was the accent of the reader was such that I thought 'Vesper' was 'Vespa', in the first book. Both of those first two books were, IMO, quite good. Not exactly GREAT, but quite good.
These books were all on CD. Libraries, or ours at least, don't have many on cassette any more, for obvious reasons.
My husband works at a library system, which links about 1/3 of Illinois libraries together in a sharing program. Libraries are kind of a 'thing' in our home. They're an awesome resource. Lots of them even have e-book lending now, for Kindles and the like. Most have a lot of movies available on DV/Bluray. Lots of them have tons of Music CDs, and happy for me, lots carry graphic novels (compiled comic book arcs).Check it out! (Pun intended).
I really like Craig's portrayal. Timothy Dalton was my favorite. He seems to be the most true to form of everybody who played Bond.
