I've got the old and want the new. Even if I didn't have the old I would want the new. Get the new ones bro.

The only difference is that the new style have room for engraving. A part from that it's personal preference.

Also consider Leatherman Recharge (Charge with upgraded pliers from the Rebar), you can make it yourself or order one from eBay/Texas Tool Crafters. I'm very happy with mine.

Me too, it's 230 euros here. But thankfully we have our classifieds section were we find unused or slightly used tools at 33-66% of the price.
I paid 94$ for mine, around 70 euros, not bad.

I have both scale types. I'm partial to the old ones as that was what was on the first MT I ever owned. I am carrying the new scaled TTi currently. TBH you can't go wrong with either.

It's not just buying, it's looking, touching, clicking, fiddling, using, comparing, talking about tools that completes the joy.

Not into paying more for the same tool.

Cutting hook, crimper and s30v blade. I've never bought a brand new MT so could care less re price.
Actually that's not true, I just bought a Gerber Fisherman recently but that will be broken down for parts.

My Wave has all that stuff.

Cutting hook, I call it a knife.

Crimper also known as pliers.

S30V blades are for sale everywhere for a few dollars.

One big thing for me with TTI. So much more comfortable when using the bit driver. For some it's not worth it. For me it was.

I never handled a Wave but its scales are similar to a Surge's that cut into the palm unless treated with a Dremmel. The Charge has better scales, not in the way the Spirit has, but they are good. I use the hook, although a knife can do similar work and used the crimper a couple of times but I haven't experienced the way TTi's steel is better than regular 4## steels. I agree that all these shouldn't double the price but this is a Multitoolmaniacs forum and people here are prepared to pay. Still, multitools and SAKs are much cheaper than accessories of other hobbies such as optics, guns, electronics, vehicles etc. I think one can afford the "best" multitool much easier than the "best" telescope, carbine, HiFi etc. If not, the Wave or even the PST will do the job fine anyway.

Agree. Wave is no match to a Charge when it comes to fit and finish of handles/scales at least, let alone extra features and materials.
Wave handles dig into the palm of your hand (older pre 2010 runs even more, as their handles flare out) and this is where Charge is a Godsend.

I always maintained that if you get the Charge TTi, tune it up so all tools open/close smoothly (polish the washers and spacers, oil the pivots) there isn't anything quite like it in MT world. No Swisstools, no Spirits...nothing.  8)

EDC and OCD. A wicked mix.
