Swapping tools?
on: October 02, 2015, 12:10:05 AM
I've decided to purchase the SOG Pocket Power Plier West Marine has marked down to $17, since both my Leathermans are one, retired, and B almost 20 years old and nearing the end of their warranty.  I'd like to swap the can opener for a wood saw to make it my perfect multi tool, since SOG with their hex fasteners, allows for the user to swap their own tools, and not void the warranty. What wrench size should I set aside to do this?

Also, where do I find the wood saw individually?  The only one I see on Ebay is bundled with the blade--at almost the same cost as the tool!

You can get a SOG saw for wooping $1 from SMKW. It has harley davidson branding on it but is made for SOG multies.
And the wrench size is the standard 1/4. You'll need two for both sides of the bolt.

Don't you need to swap a long tool for a long tool? I'm not sure if long saw with replace short can opener.

I was getting ready to order a serrated blade from SMKW for this exact reason.. until I saw shipping was $10!!!

Correct. The tool won't close if you put a saw where the can opener is.

That's us mobile.

The screws on my Pocket Power Plier (and SwitchPlier 2.0) take a 2mm hex key.

And as mentioned above, the saw will almost certainly be too long to fit in place of the can opener.  The Pocket Power Plier only takes 2 long tools.
