The good news is the can is, in fact, open.  If this were a survival situation we wouldn't find your emaciated corpse surrounded by cans you couldn't open.  On the other hand, these push forward can openers never have worked very well and I don't know why any manufacturer still uses them in their designs.  I had such hopes when Vic absorbed Wenger that they would use Wenger's pull back can opener because it works,  but that didn't happen, and SOG was just lazy when they decided to copy the Victorinox opener.

Enjoying a cold Reed's Extra Ginger Brew while watching some playoff football. I'm looking for a calm, relaxing day before heading back out to the field tomorrow.

Agreed. Especially sad in SOGs case. It should be easy for SOG to fine-tune and perfect their implements. Yet, they have been producing the same flawed can opener and scissors and a Phillips that is too small and a file that sucks and etc... since forever.

Used the scissors to open my Ready Meal. The pouch feels pretty robust, but the terrible SOG scissors managed pretty well. I have a picture to share if I can get enough signal to upload it ::)

Busy day at work. Had to escort contractors most of the morning and early afternoon, and then my trainer showed up and did his thing until quitting time (although I have found time to follow along with SHOT). One group of contractors was tasked with replacing our analog phones throughout the building with VOIP phones. That's way over my head so busied myself taking the old phones down and removing their mounts. Perfect opportunity to press the PowerLock into service. The Phillips actually did itself proud today :salute:

Sorry for the crappy picture, this one was in a poorly lit area and I had to use my flash, which distorted the color. I tried to get it back as close to normal as I could using the edit function on my phone.

A couple of little jobs for the PL today. The kick-stop I repaired earlier in the month did in fact need bigger screws (as predicted) b/c the hole got stripped out last time and the stock screws were a smidge too small. The new piece was falling off. I found a few bigger screws and fixed it right up. Also, I had to reattach a spring that normally holds a panel door closed (until it decided not to anymore when I opened it, and it clobbered my face) - the PL's mighty pliers were just the thing for that. And to end the day, I had a nice cold beverage. I used the pliers to open it since it was a twist off and wanted to use something besides the cap lifter to do it.

Once again I am having problems getting my picture uploaded. I have to use WiFi to upload pictures when I am at work, and the WiFi is not working for some reason. I can use our work computers for everything else, though (besides restricted sites). I'll keep trying. And attach my pic later :tu: Got a nice artsy shot of the PL plier-jaws grasping the bottle cap right next to the bottle

It's not a fence tie, but let's see what happens, shall we?

In case it might be helpful to you, the fence ties I used were 6 1/2 inches and I cut off  half an inch. :tu:

Well, the clothes hanger was not going well. Luckily, I happened upon some fence ties stashed in my garage. Much better to work with. Especially with the beastly PowerLock on the job.

I have since filed down the little curly-Q you can see so that it doesn't protrude as much and is smooth to the touch. The SOG file worked very well on the soft metal.

Keys attached and a foliage green paracord lanyard in place. The lanyard was necessary to give me something substantial to grasp onto for easier retrieval from my pocket :tu:

I think I will go with a shorter lanyard when I get the notion to make one. This one is a little obnoxious :D

I'm a little surprised by how much I like the dangler. I've never used one before. I've seen them and thought they looked like a good idea, but kind of figured they would be overly fiddly. But I have been wearing it with my keys attached this evening, just around the house, taking them out of my pocket and putting them back. It is a little more effort to get them in place, but not much. I'm pretty stoked. Of course my PowerLock is to thank for the precision bends - no way would it have ended up as pretty as it is without it :salute:

I like your take on the dangler.  I made the loop that goes inside the pocket so it was flat against my leg.  Otherwise, not too different.  I am finding out that having things remain upright in your pocket and being able to pull them out without having to dig through a jumble of items that have settled in the bottom of the pocket is a great improvement in efficiency and comfort.

I had the loop the same as yours on my first attempt using the coat hanger, where it would be flat against my leg. But the way I intend to carry my keys on it meant the split ring would be funky in my pocket. The loop being turned the way I have it doesn't seem to be noticeable in use, though

The coat hanger was weird. I thought it would be better because of it's added stiffness, but it was really just more difficult to work with. It was actually pretty brittle with the tight radius of the bends and did not provide good grip on my pocket. Attempting to get more grip by fine tuning then bends resulted in breaks. So I said "stuff it" and went looking for something better. Thankfully I found those leftover fence ties from our fence project two summers ago :tu:

To your point about keeping the keys upright in pocket - when keys are the only thing associated with a pocket, it's not a big deal, IMHO. But once I start carrying a lot of extra stuff (knife, multitool/s, phone, flashlight, lighter, etc...) a little organization goes a long way. In the past I have experimented with carabiners and keeping my keys clipped to a belt loop. But I don't like that much because then I jingle all the time

That is why I add the fishing swivel between the dangler and the knife, or keys, so that everything will be flat in my pocket and nothing is poking me.

Lunchtime. Corn dog retrieval.

I found out how to use the can opener where you don't end up with a horror movie circular saw blade looking lid ;)

Nothing for the PowerLock today. I've been taking care of a sick boy all day. I did get a few minutes to go organize my hunting pack this evening after dinner. Took the opportunity to get a picture for the challenge.

Thanks. I think he managed to get the bug up (and on my shirt) earlier in the day, but he is depleted. Water and the B.R.A.T. diet doesn't really make up for everything that gets lost, you know? We will keep him out of school tomorrow, if for nothing else, just so he gain regain some nutrients and energy.

Had to do a little equestrian work in the stables first thing this morning. Not really. My daughter's rocking horse lost a nut () that connects the horse to the base. PowerLock pliers were just the ticket :tu:

Apparently the PowerLock is too powerful? Lol, not quite! I did go in to see the Doc for some wrist pain I have had for several months and a weird bump that has recently appeared. I got a wrist brace for tendonitis and a referral to an orthopedic surgeon to get a ganglion cyst removed. Good news is the brace does not interfere with my MT use

Nice Gear! Now you need a BO PowerLock to match.

Sorry to hear about the tendinitis diagnosis though. Still, better found and treated than ignored...

New boots for my little cowgirl and cowboy. The V-cut made easy work of the little plastic tie. Also used it at lunch to cut sprigs of grapes for my kiddos. I really like the V-cut. It is proving to be a really decent replacement for a knife :tu:

Not much for the mighty PowerLock today. I had to escort a dude working on our phones for 5 hours - not as fun as it sounds. And it doesn't even sound fun so that really says something. I did use my second favorite implement behind the V-cut, the cap lifter. And I'd share the picture if I had some WiFi.

I had a couple of smaller jobs for the PowerLock today. I got a couple of pictures but I willn't be able to load them until I get back to civilization tomorrow (WiFi is bitmiş). I hope I get home tomorrow, I think we are about to get snowed on. Anyways, I needed to mount a placard with the instructions for calculating the ratio of our chlorinator. We tried ducttape and command strips, but nothing would stick to the weird metal, textured walls in our pump-house for very long. So, I said "screw it" - which the Phillips did a good job with. I also added some salt pellets to the tank and thought I'd see how the V-cut fared against the bag's heavy plastic. It fared well, even if it was a bit awkward because the two layers of plastic kind of spread away from each other as you get closer to the contents of the bag. But it worked

Nothing for PL today. Low-light glamour shot. Home from work, though, so that rocks! I'll be glad to start carrying my SP2 again, off duty.
