Heat Anodizing LM TI
on: September 28, 2016, 04:22:55 AM
Hey ya'll,

Been a really hectic summer. Seems to get busier by the day but as school starts and work slows I'm finding more shop time.

Do you think LM Charge TI scales could be anodized with heat?

Better yet, what about a pattern.

Call me crazy but here's my idea, using a small 3" vice I would gently clamp a scale parallel with the jaws. Place that vice in just enough ice water that half the scale sticks out of the water. May also have to add salt to make it even colder.

Then, gently hit the exposed half with also acetylene or propane or butane torch.

Would the titanium disperse the heat fast enough that the pattern would spread regardless? Or would the cold water stop the color switch below the water line?

I think adding salt to the water is probably a good idea.

Good luck with the mod NK!
