Repair PST 2
on: March 26, 2009, 06:26:57 PM
If you have a Leatherman PST 2 thats not broken but just beat up pretty bad, can you send it into Leatherman for a tune up.
I'm in need for a new blade and scissors. Even for a small fee would be nice.

If you send it in make sure to state that you want it back, otherwise they will probably discard the PSTII and send you a brand new Fuse.
I highly doubt it that they still have and/or want to use new old stock spare parts for the PST and PSTII.

Well that does seem a bit better at least it has most of the same tools plus and/or minus a few :)

If it's just worn out then you got your moneys worth from a great tool.

You have two options:

1) If the tool has sentimental value you can buy a new or used parts tool and swap the good parts for the worn ones on your PST II.

2) Retire the PST II and purchase a new multi.

It is probably not cost effective for Leatherman to do "tune-up" work on a multi-tool.

If you were so happy with your PST II that you wore it out then I would suggest you replace it with a New Wave, or you could do like the rest of us and start a collection of multis.
:)

Depending on how well you liked it you may want to hit Ebay and track another 1 down :D

There are quite a few PST II on there of course it may be more cost effective to buy a newer model like Crouton said about getting a Wave :tu:

The PST2 was my first full size Leatherman, I beat it to death, very hard use for many years.
I might just find another one for parts and shine it up some.

I do have a wave, blast, fuse, and a core. I just like the PST2 better. maybe because I'm so used to it.

OK so off to ebay I guess.

Being able to sharpen the knife with the diamond file. Pure genius.

I am willing to pay a % of my Multitasker's purchase price as royalties to the clever PSII mod feller.
Now how much of the 99c(cost of my Paul Chen MT) should the fella get  :D
Cheap MT manufactures do not steal ideas do they  :o :P

Well the Surge has a removable file now as well  :o :D

In theory having a tool inside of your tool to sharpen itself is a very good thing ::) :tu: I have always like that link but wouldn't it have been easier to just tear apart a PST and get the blade from it instead of a Case pocket knife  :D
