My Paratool has USA on the plier head, but my 2 PPPs, Power Plier and Power Lock all just say SOG. Is that what you meant?

Some of these are fairly old, so I guess they've been that way for a while?
I used to come here a lot.

Was it one SOG or was it 4 SOGs on each side?

yeah the new plier head is made in China.  At least thats what I was told.

I have a really old Power lock that needed the pliers replaced after I bent them slightly while winning a bet.  I took my sog against my brothers brand of multi tool.

He tried to use his tool to bend my sogs sheet metal sides.  After he gave up trying I bent his all the way open to where they were flat almost with my sog.

He now owns a power lock lol.

But yea I sent it in had the plier head replaced and it came back just stamped SOG.  It's a nice new design better then the old ones,  but when I first got it back it kind of ticked me off.  I like to see those letters on stuff.

FWIW, the Paladin tools (based on the SOG design) are made in Taiwan.

Made quite well too I might add.
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

I'm not sure if they said China or Taiwan,  now that I think about it.  But I called SOG when I got it back in the mail and noticed the change.  The women I spoke to told me none of the plier heads are American made any more.  When I asked about the components and the rest of the tool she wouldn't discuss it.

Where is Chris at?  I'm sure he can give us all the details.

Isn't LM doing the same? simply assembling them in the U.S. I think...

No, some parts are made elsewhere, but there are still many parts made in the US.

My Paladin 525 has Taiwan made components.  I can't tell any difference other than the handles compress or flex more than either the Power Lock or Power Pliers handles.  An unscientific observation only.

It doesn't really matter where a component is made as long as it is good quality! AP, I think you should go out and buy a Buck X-Tract; then, report your thoughts!

I know not all chinese tools are bad...but that's where most mass produced tools of VERY low quality come from...

You are still making a generalisation.

We all know how you feel about Chinese stuff, you don't need to bring it up in every thread.  ;)
