Heres my small pin collection. The russian pins I got from a politician I know who visited Russia right after the Soviet Union collapsed, the USA one I got when I was in a civil war museum near Richmond, Virginia and I got the Leatherman from a mod on here during a Squirt giveaway.

Don't do it! That hobby is extremely expensive.

When I was in high school I started spending $250-300 a month on various coins then I got in to paper money and stamps. And then I would spend on average $150 a week. There was one good thing when I got out of it I was able to sell all the stuff(except stamps) at what it cost me to get it.

Coins and stamps are definitely expensive hobbies to get into. I still have all my stuff.

Well since lockpicker started to derail this pin thread, I may as well go along with it.  ;)

I don't have any MT pins, but I do have a small collection of sentimental pins that I placed in a shadow box for safekeeping and display on a shelf.

When my father passed away, I gathered all his pins and combined them with mine, along with a special pin my mother always wore. I found a few of my Grandfather's pins that my father also kept safe.

I have a coin exactly like that from 1885 but an extra piece of decorative gold was added to the coin to make it a pendant.

Mine is 1857. It is actually a 2-1/2 dollars gold quarter eagle. I collect coins since I was a 10 yeaqrs old but I was not too serious about it.
Here's closeup view of that coin.

Oooh, that's beautiful.  Mine's the $5 gold coin.  It's a genuine coin but for some reason, somebody at one point made it into a pendant by framing more gold around it.  The only problem with it is that the obverse side is displayed right side up in the pendant so the eagle side is upside down.

Just as a side note, the Victorinox Huntsman(?) pin can also be found packaged with Classic SDs... I have a source. XD

And, after looking at the Navigator, I think I'd like it if it was remade, especially if it used either Leatherman or Victorinox tools, instead of the stubby looking other tools. ^^;

After all, they could then fit the tool handle with the four tools the Navigator had, but have a file, combination saw/bottle opener/can opener, knife, and something else. XD

edap617,
That is a rare American gold coin certainly worth more than a couple of leatherman waves, I'm sure you already know that though  ;),
I have a couple of the 1885 $5 peices, one with the pendant ring and a coin dealer told me their worth what ever the current going rate for gold is regardless of the denomination.  At the time I looked into it mine were each worth $ 260.00 each to the dealer.  When I first got mine in the late 1980's they were getting as much as $500.00 a peice, as gold prices rise so to do their value.
They were so highly sought after at one time that many of these peices were made into jewlery and pendant rings (also gold) were added so they can worn around the neck.
Hang onto it. :tu:

Thanks PyroJames and Nutznboltz.

Yes, we should hang on to those old gold coins as their value as collectors item is more than their actual gold content.

Used to collect these when the kids were younger,

I think the P.C. brigade stopped them being produced a few years later.

I still have a couple of the enamel ones from when I was a kid!

Man, I remember having a couple of them when I was a kid. :)  Didn't you have to collect jam jar lids or something?
