Walmart clearance
on: March 07, 2009, 03:51:41 AM
Hey guys!  Been lurking here for awhile and decided I oughta give you guys a heads up.  I managed to latch on to the last 2 Leatherman Surges my local store had for $40 each.  Also got a Spyderco Native for $19.  They had a Leatherman Blast for $25 and a Kick for $15.  Also had some type of Gerber for $25 down from $50(a Diesel?)  I decided not to get too greedy and left them there.  Anyhow, you might want to check your local Walmart for some awesome deals.  Really enjoy the site!

looks like they clearanced them even more. Blast are now 25 and kicks 11 bucks. Didn't see any Surges. Just a hint..they keep all the clearance behind the sporting goods counter sometimes locked up behind glass. I have no idea on how they expect to clear out the clearance being out of sight. Was like this at 2 Walmart stores i scoured.

Yeah, I had to ask if they still had any Natives left.  Doesn't make much sense to me either.  This is starting to get out of hand.  Before the two Surges I picked up, I got one of the Core packages off of ebay.  I checked every Home Depot around trying to pick one up for $15, didn't think $35 was too bad for the one on ebay though.  Now I've got a couple of Juices coming, an S2 and a KF4, both storm gray.  I think I might need help :ahhh

It is definitely strange how Walmart hides them. At my Walmarts, they also have only one person who has keys to that counter and he is never there!  :ahhh

Must be a store policy to keep the key at the opposite end of the store.  I was almost late for an appointment waiting for someone to show me the Surges.

I mean that the guy with the key to the display case is never even in the store! One time I was told he was away on a lunchbreak and would be back in an hour. An hour later, I asked where he was and they told me he had decided to go home for the afternoon. I asked when would the best time to come by to see him and they said they had no idea!  :bnghd:

Nothing against Gerber but wonder why Walmart is shoving Leatherman out and highlighting Gerber products.  I gather Leatherman will feel the impact of this.
I watched some documentry on Walmart buying practices and if you don't actually give the stuff to them free of charge they discontinue selling your products in the stores.

So i went into my local Wal-Mart last night around 10pm and those old model Waves were still sitting on the basedeck in sporting goods with the clearance tag on them for 79.99. I asked the girl stocking fishing rods if the clearance tags were right as i could not get them to scan on the self scanner thing.  Turns out since they were no longer in the system i got them for 20 bucks a piece. Pays to ask i guess.

I got lucky on the Kick. The guy couldn't find the box, so he charged me $15 for a Gerber item that he had the box for. As it turns out that item was on sale for $9 and he said "Looks like you get a better deal". I'll say!!!  :D

Walmart uses bullying tactics when it comes to buying from their suppliers. Since they have such a large market audience the suppliers have no choice but to cave in. When a supplier refuses to parlay then they usually get the boot for ALL their items from Walmart shelves. Its one of the reasons you find so few genuine SAK's for sale. They buy that chinese junk and sell it instead! Man, don't get me started on Walmart.

Walmart is evil!

I could easily see Leatherman telling Walmart to take a hike.
That may be why the LM's are on clearance there.

I don't do Walmart.

I found those old model Waves at a really ghetto Wal-mart. You know the one i mean. Every town has one. Old fixtures from 1983, stains on the suspended ceiling, aisles 18 inches wide, they still carry live fish (poor fish), and they are in the same shopping center as Payless Shoes, Big Lots, and M.E. Moses.

Reminds me of TG&Y

I got one of those surges for 40 and a blast and a diesel for 25.  I really wanted to like the Diesel but Could not warm up to it and returned it. I really have changed my mind on Gerber.
