Congratulations, that's a lovely rifle. If it's any help my Blue Book of Airguns says the following regarding serial numbers:


Series 1 - SN 1 to 2500 made from 1947 to 49
series 2  - SN 2501 to 6000 made from 1949 to 57
Series 3 - SN 6001 to 42857 made from 1957 to 61
Series 4 - SN 42858 to 46289 made fron 1961 to 64
late model series - SN 46290 on made from 1964 to 75

I remember reading that Mr Weihrauch said that the Mark III was the one Webley that he wished he'd produced. I also understand that they only stopped making it because it became too expensive.

Going by that then, it's one of the first and made in 1947-49, a few years older than my senior.    Thanks for that mate.

Yeah I had heard that it was a goodun and was really overbuilt as well.  It certainly feels very solid.  Was certainly worth the price I paid for it.
