New EDC ?
on: August 23, 2016, 12:37:28 PM
I only have a small collection of SAKs. The whole lot fits (and is acually housed) in a standard cigar box. And because of finances it will remain that way for a while I'm afraid

However yesterday I was rumbling through my cigar box and found this Electrician. I tossed it in the box a while ago becaus I wasn't able to put a decent edge on the sheepfoot. In the proces I screwed up the blade finish and out of frustration I threw it in the cigar box.

But looking at it yesterday I kinda liked the setup. In fact it's actually a Swiss made traditional pocket knife with 3 blades and a bottleopener/screw driver.
So I gave it another try.

This time being a bit more Zen  :D I was able with the help of my Sharpmaker to get the sheepfoot  shave hair of my arms after I gave the blade a satin finish hiding the scratches from my previous attempts.
Dit the same on the main blade and presto, another SAK in working order and into my rotation.

How long it will remain in my pocket I have yet to find out. Will give it a fair chance.

Well here it is, my rejuvenated Electrician:

Hope you like it and didn't mind my rambling  :-[

Glad you were able to rescue it.  The Electrician is one of my favourites with a very useful tool selection - I think of it as a modern Stockman with added beer access tool.

Nice work, the Electrician can be a very useful knife, although for EDC I prefer the Rancher over the Electrician

It really does make for an excellent tool, just remember to take a P-38 with you if you ever decide to go camping with it, I know a couple people on here learned that the hard way.

Wasn't there someone on here that used a 74mm or 58mm as a can opener too? O.o

I love the Svord, btw. :D

I wanna see a shot of this cigar box with the SAKs in it!

I always declare SAKs hopeless, and figure I'll want to replace a blade or take it apart. But then when I fix it up, it goes from worn out in some way to being one of the sharpest, cleanest and shiniest. This is especially nice when money is tight because it's like getting a new one. I mainly buy knives for under $20 that need work so it's always happening.

So how should I deal with this old cross electrician haha. Turn the main blade into a toothpick? I got these 4 SAKs for $20 so it's not that big a deal.. will the electrician's blade fit on the same layer with the pruning blade out of the pruner knife?
