Expedition Africa
on: June 21, 2009, 08:25:25 PM
Anyone watching this on the History channel?  Looks like the leader Pasquale is totin' a swisstool on his belt in episode 2 in the swamp.

I started watching this a couple of weeks ago. They are treking Livingstone's route through Africa. It's a navigator, naturalist, survivalist, and a journalist traveling about 1000 miles in 30ish days.

It's good stuff. A lot of internal conflicts within the group. Big egos and such.

While I have never heard of the rest Benedict Allen is a guy I have a lot of time for.  He even carries a white scaled SAK see #16 here: http://www.benedictallen.com/interview_Global_Adventure_Magazine.htm  *

I can foresee a few disagreements as Allen often does this kind of thing on his own.  :D  Unfortunately i don't get the History channel.  :(

http://www.hulu.com/search?query=expedition+africa <-- Expedition Africa excerpts; yes, I'd go insane from having to piece together different bits, but it's better than not seeing it at all. :)

As long as the SAK has a saw then he must be Mikes own personal hero.  :D

But!!  Between the Khukuri and SAK, plus all the new anti-knife laws in the UK.  Would Benedict be labeled:"ENEMY OF THE CROWN"??

Nothing new that would affect his choice of tools.  He wouldn't be able to stroll though the city centre with a Kuk but that's nothing new.  I think there my be large parts of the USA where it isn't on either.  :D

I just watched Episode 2 and Pasquale definitely carries a 5-8 layer SAK on his belt. I have the same sheath, I'm guessing it's a SwissChamp!  :)

I tried to watch a couple episodes of Expedition Africa, but just couldn't get into it.  The only one of the expeditions members I knew much about was Kevin Sites.  I'd read his war reporting and had been impressed with it.  I'd only vaguely heard of Benedict Allen.

Guess it was just me, but I just couldn't get into the show.    ???
