New to SOG
on: June 14, 2009, 09:25:57 PM
HELLO
quick back story, I never really needed a multi-tool, (or so I thought) Got a new job in the fields and got a LM Blast, liked it broke a screwdriver, off for warrenty.
But i wanted a work horse and a TOOL that replaces my tool box and LM tools have alot of spaces wasted on things not work related survial maybe but not a WORK TOOL sadly not even the surge for me, and i question LM quality now,
AND I have since learned I cannot live with out a tool on my belt.
SO now I ordered my SOG Powerlock, I am pumped to get it it seems to be takeing its sweet time coming, this looks like and amazing tool.  Ill review later.
But I had a few questions come up since I have ordered it.
1, you can replace to tools yourself correct?
2, if you can repalce them your self than I assume you can take it appart for cleaning?
3, If I can take them appart, can I change whats there? are there many modded ones out there??

Thanks guys sorry if these are common topics but wanted to start a powerlock thread
peace

1) yes you can :)
2) yes you can :)
3) yes you can :)

:D SOG sells components on their website, if you can't order from them for some reason put up a wanted thread on the forum and some one will help out i'm sure :)

As for what you can change, that's a good question, someone will be along to let you know some of the more common mods :)

Good tools SOGs, and IMO the best thing they have going for them is the ability to easily swap the tools about.

If I was utra-critical, I might say that their tool components aren't as strong (i.e. thick) as some of the other manufacturers, but I'm not, so I won't :D

I'm sure you'll like it just fine, did you get the old style with the exposed gears, or the new style with the gear covers?

I used to come here a lot.

Well, you have the compound leverage on the pliers, but I'm not sure the drivers etc will hold up any better than the Blast. But, it will be interesting to see.

The s60 is a good one. I have that one but without the gear covers.
This is called a Swiss Army Knife. Do you know what Switzerland is? Switzerland is a place where they don't like to fight, so they get people to do their fighting for them while they ski and eat chocolate. - Larry David

IT CAME IN my SOG POWERLOCK
Six weeks less a day to arrive

well I now REALLY understand the SOG tool, I now think anyone who has not owned or used a SOG just will not get it, there in no comparison to how it feels and functions over the others.

I gotta go get more use from it but first impressions and tests really showing how good this tool is

Hi,

there is a very complete article about the SOG group here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_Assistance_Command,_Vietnam_Studies_and_Observations_Group

And SOG stands for MACV-SOG. SOG for short.
