If you don't find them on sale, try using polymeric clay to make them yourself.

Yeah... but they're not so readily accessible, so I need a way to aquire or produce them.

I've known about that one for awhile~ Still haven't gotten one but I'll break soon. But I'd like to find a more economical or durable solution.

Actually on white nylon scales that might not work out too bad.

How durable? Anyone else with suggestions? White plus scales with paint sounds pretty economical but I don't know what kind of paint would be best for this material.

go to a hobby shop or some larger toy sections and get Testor Model Enamel should be $1-$2

They make a plastic paint that is pretty durable. I repainted a plastic chair with it once. I think Rustoleum makes it. about $5 a can.

Okay now... black scales with the spots protected then painted white? Or white scales with black painted on?

One's harder, but I think it'd show wear better and uses less paint.

And plastic paint or hobby paint?

Maybe not a cow print, But as you can see, they have many options. Not just the "jungle prints"
