Cheapest Brightest Compact Flashlight!
on: August 01, 2009, 07:26:16 PM
Looking for a really high power super bright flashlight at low cost and pretty compact. Similar to size of a mini maglite or smaller!

Any suggestions?

The Fenix range would be a good place to start, as there both powerful and reasonably priced :)
Give in, buy several Farmer's!!!!!!

Scion,

There is a ton out there that would fill the bill for what you are looking for, in both AA and 123 cell types. Fenix, Lumapower, Olight, Ultrafire, Romisen, Surefire, Jetbeam, iTP, Nitecore, and quite a few others all have offerings.

Is there any battery type you want to stick with, price limitations, any other particulars?

In my own personal experience the brightest budget compact lights are the following:

AKOray K-106 powered by 14500
Ultrafire A10 powered by 14500
Ultrafire A20 powered by RCR123

These lights can match some of the 2 celled Q5 and R2 lights in lumens output.

Don't forget a Solarforce L2, or L2m. Both are very solid and high output. Price range is on the mark.

Scion, check out these TerraLux lights.  The first one fits you criteria for being under 30 bucks and, the second one is just a little over 30 bucks.

1AA, 100 and 50 lumen levels, strobe, $27.50.

2AA, 220 and 100 lumen levels, $33.90.

Brightguy is one of the best places to buy lights.  Reasonable prices, fast shipping, and great to deal with overall.

+1 on the DX options. I've had a Romisen from there and it's really good value for money. The build quality isn't quite up to the standards of a Fenix but it's well worth getting  :tu:

I got another Akoray, a K-106. When I put in 1xAA it is as bright as my L1D Q5 on turbo. But when powered with 14500 it blows away both my L1D and L2D. Would I give up my L1D and L2D in favor of the K-106? I wouldn't want to. But I don't want to give up my K-106 either!
