Howdy from The West
on: July 12, 2009, 05:43:03 AM
Well, I've been lurking around here for a few weeks and I figured it was time for me to get posting.  So, I thought I'd be a good boy and start by introducing myself.  I'm the Deere Man (that's Deere as in John Deere, the tractors, not Bambie).  That name came from my extensive collection of John Deere toy tractors.  However, that hobbie has taken a side line to collecting things that actually prove useful, like multitools, knives, and flashlights.

Anywho I was drawn here in search of a replacement for my 5 year old Leatherman Wave (original).  Not that it needs replacing, but I'm getting more and more into gadgets and sharp pointy things.  It was a good reason to get something new and shiny to play with.  I ended up with a Surge and I couldn't be happier.  Well, until the ST 300 comes out at least.  Wow am I drooling over that beast.

   :gimme:

I'm a huge believer in being prepared for most anything and I think that starts by always having a multitool on my person.  Heck, I can't even go 5 blocks to church without one strapped on my belt.  But, I imagine you all can relate.....

Let's see, what else.  Well, I have the pleasure of residing in the western United States.  My wife and I are in college.  We're looking forward to graduating soon so that we can get real jobs.  Maybe then I could afford to have a little more of a collection instead of just two Leathermans.  Right now my small "for fun" budget is goes to knives, multitools, flashlights, outdoor gear, survival gear, first aid gear, backpacks, etc.

You should all know that I'm biased towards Leatherman multis and RAT Cutlery knives.  Although SOG and Victorinox have my interest...

Well, enough babbleing.  I look forward to hanging out here.  You all seem like a great bunch of folks.

Have a good one.

Hey, thanks for the warm wishes folks.

We'll have to hold off on the tractor pulling for a while as I don't have any full size John Deeres at my disposal at the moment.  Besides, I wouldn't want to hurt any of my new friends feelings by pulling the wheels right off of there little read...errr...tractors.   8)

And about that multitool bug.  I thought this was the support group.

It is.  Every time your wife shouts at you, we'll be here.  Every time she makes you sleep on the sofa, we'll be here.  All through the divorce case, we'll be here.  When you're down and out, with nothing but a PST, a cardboard box and an internet cafe, we'll be here.  After all, what are friends for.  :D
