I've seen a few powerlocks with gear covers, but no piano locks but I'm not sure if it's a genuine release or a mod by someone.  Try checking eBay.

I think there were a few "transitional" Powerlocks made just before the 2.0 replaced the old version...I remember someone having a 2.0 with the gear covers and new plier head, but it had the old locking mechanism.  I think it was a stainless version though..

I'm with you on not likeing the piano locks...I'm just so used to the old way.

I was thinking it will be an easy swap with the old chassis but not really.. I am trying to get used to it but I can't imagine handling this in a freezing weather.

It does take a little more concentration to unlock those piano locks, and if your hands are cold, and the tool is like an icecube...it would be more difficult than the old locking mech.

They are indeed out there, exactly like Corrugated said, and more common than you'd think. Your best bet is to look closely at the ones for sale on eBay. Only consider auctions that have pictures of the actual tool for sale. (not some generic factory photo)

I actually like the piano locks, and just because they're advertised as individual locks doesn't mean you have to operate them as such.  I just press all the keys together to unlock the components.
