Ebony and Ivory, together in perfect harmony...
on: July 27, 2009, 03:30:46 AM
All this LM vs Vic trash talk has gotta stop.

Today, the Espresso machine decided to go on vacation.  Since replacing it would be painfully expensive, I started tearing into it with....wait for it....

my multitools.  :D

It appeared to be a stuck solenoid valve. To remove the old one requires removing two 4mm hex head bolts.  The LM Charge/Wave were at the wrong angle to torque them loose, BUT the Vic Cybertool bit driver was a perfect fit  :climber:. After freeing up the valve, it still wasn't flowing well, so I had to disassemble the brew head and clean it out.  That requires a 5 mm hex head driver.

LM Charge to the rescue.  :multi:

After disassembly, cleaning and reassembly, the Gaggia is working like new again.

Ebony and Ivory, together in perfect harmony... :drink:

I think the LM vs Vic debate is secretly started by the SOG or Gerber guys. I like arguing over silly stuff so I LOVE the debate.

How about Belgians?  They seem to get off pretty lightly.  Heck, I doubt they had anything to with waffles at all!

We were debating? I though this was kind of like the whole Creationist argument where the Swiss guys kind of just ignore the Leatherman lovers because even giving in to argument would somewhat acknowledge that there is a debate to speak of... which there isn't. >:D

Frankly I just use everything. :D

Groovy Baby!  Austin Powers FTW!

Ahem, now where were we :b2t:

LM and Vic both create great tools.  I EDC a mix of LM and Vic stuff (and now Gerber) and they compliment each other very well.  Different companies will do certain things better than others, and people will have differing preferences.  At the end of the day though, at the kind of level Vic and LM compete at, you're unlikely to get a truly poor a tool from either.

The banter is fun though :)

That reminds me of something I said a couple of weeks ago.

I have this black friend named Dontay. He's got a great sense of humor.  He was telling me about some racist guy and I told him "I hate racists, well that and black people"

He about wet himself laughing.

*Just for the record I'm not racist, I loathe racists*.

It doesn't make you sound racist mate.  I say similar things; its about making fun of racism.  Its such a nonsensical thing it deserves to be made fun of.

Dontay and I were thinking about dressing up as a KKK member and a lynching victim for Halloween, the funny part was he was gonna wear the white sheets and I was gonna have the noose around my neck.

We decided against it though, although I love the Ozarks it has its share of racists. We figured someone would get pissed and shoot us.

Good on ya for taking the time to fix it Mr. Whip :tu: So often these days folks just toss something in the bin and run to the store for a new one. :-\ Me, I find it particularly satisfying to tear something apart, figure out how it works, repair it, and then reassemble. Sometimes it takes me half a day, but its worth it! 8)
