Anyone remember B-52 pilot Major "King" Kong (played by Slim Pickens) checking out his survival kit in "Dr. Strangelove."

As he went through the contents, he named each item:

"100 dollars in rubles.
100 dollars in gold.
Switchblade knife.
Forty-five pistol and ammo.
Pep pills.
Sleeping pills.
Two pairs of nylon stockings.
Condoms."

He finally says, "Heck, with all this stuff a fella could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas."   ;>

Actually condoms are the best thing in a survival kit after duct tape.  They can be used as emergency water containers, ties, gloves, etc.  They have many uses and take up little space.  Just get the non-lubricated type for a survival kit.  Oh year, they also come in handy if you get lucky on the trail.  :D

You forgot one use - you can stretch one over your head for a 'humourous' mask.

Or use them as water baloons...

Crikey, I need to get out more  :-\
