One of the rare times I agree with Mike ::) :ahhh

I carried Spyderco Delicas for many years and I'm used to tip up. These days I don't use the clip anymore though...

Tip-Down only for me.....Tip-Up is a accident waiting to happen. And besides, I find Tip-Down much faster in deployment.

4" and less tip up, more than that tip down. When get to 4"+ folders my hands aren't big enough to reach thumbstud quickly in tip up position.

But since I only have one 4"+ folder I vote up.

if it's a lockback tip up works for me.  however, if it's a linerlock or a assisted opener then I prefer to carry tip down just in case it somehow either comes open or works it's way partly open.

Outside of the occassional foray into Tip-Up I have done, for the past 12 years or so  I have been carrying Tip-Down and I can say for certain that "crud in the pivot" has never been an issue.  ???

Seems to me that tip-up carry would get more nasty stuff into the pivot, because the pivot area rides deeper, nearer the bottom of the pocket where lint and other crud accumulates.

Tip-down puts the pivot area near the top of the pocket where there's less lint and other crud floating around.

Tip down...

Sorry, but it's never been an issue where I need to shave off 2 miliseconds deploying a knife to fend off mall ninajs.

I'd rather have the saftey of tip-down carry. :D

Tip down for me as well. I don't find it any slower than tip-up, it's safer, and most of the folders I've had carry deeper in their tip-down configuration.
