Living in the great state of Indiana we are use to seeing a lot of racing and the faces behind the wheel.
This came to me the other day from a coworker and I need to tell the story.
Ken was helping me with computer problems and I decided to give him a SAK for his troubles, (after all he already owned a Swiss Gear backpack with no SAK in it).
So we starting talking about SAK and he told me that he and his wife use to have one,
but couldn’t tell you where they were.
Looking thru my SAKs I handed him a Classic for the Mrs.
A couple days pass and he tells my I have something to show you with that he pulls out a Wenger Golf Pro #16129.
Looking it over, he asked me if I ever heard of George Bignotti ?
http://www.motorsportshalloffame.com/halloffame/1993/George_Bignotti_main.htmHaving a deer in the headlight look, he tells me that George was a famous crew chief for people like A.J. Foyt, Al Unser.
So this got my attention, he went on to tell me that his wife use to clean George’s home and one day he gave her that knife.
Handing it back to him he asked me if I liked/wanted it. My response was yes to both.
“Well, my wife discovered that in a drawer the other day so we starting talking about what to do with it, SHE suggested that we give it to you.”
Floored by this act of generosity/insanity I pocketed it before he could reconsider.
Now if hangs on a hook with the “CHOSEN” knives in the living room where everyone can see it.
I think it is cool that George Bignotti once owned this and who knows maybe someone equally famous give it to him.
But what I think about when I see it is the generosity of a friend and his wife.
Thanks for letting me share.
