Wave or Core?
on: August 08, 2009, 11:25:21 PM
Hi mates!
Amazon has some pretty cheap (for Germany) LM tools in stock.
A Wave is 60 Euro at the moment, a Core 45.- that´s much cheaper than normal here. So I´m thinking of getting one, just for fun. But I´m not sure which one to take.

I like the OHT blades on the Wave, and the possibility to add a clip (if I can get one here), but I like the core to be heavier duty and cheaper - so dudes and dudesses, what would you choose?

Well the Core is due to be replaces very soon, so get one while you can :)

And although I prefer the Wave to the Charge, the Core is the one I'd go for :)
Give in, buy several Farmer's!!!!!!

I would grab the Wave, because of the outside blades and the selection of tools (Scissors, Bitholder etc.) for EDC..  :tu:
(And I would certainly prefer the Surge over the Core for the same reasons..)  ;)

I would go for a Wave.  However, it depends on what you want it for.  If it is going to be used on some big chores, some heavy work, get the Core.  For just everyday chores, the little things we encounter in our day to day lives, get a Wave.

Definitely get the Wave over the Core.  As ALP said, you won't regret it!  :tu:

If I were you I'd get the Wave.  If the Core is discontinued in favor of the new ST300, you will still be able to get one later and over here at least the Core is cheaper.  If you just want it for EDC and nothing too heavy duty, then I think the Wave will serve you very well.

I would get the Core because it feels a lot better in the hand. The Wave has bad ergonomics with the two jutting blades and the placement of the locking springboards. I know I am in the minority here.

Get what you think fits you best. Too bad you just can't get them both.

I agree with you, Chako, on the ergonomics.  I have been screaming at the top of my lungs about how non hand-friendly the Wave is.  However, it is a very handy tool, and a bit easier to carry around then the Core.  To each his own I guess.

I own a charge, but i really like the wave. 60€ is a really good price for a wave over here.
I wouldnt choose the core because it doesnt have outside accessable onehand blades - i never want to get a tool without that again.
I think the ergonomics on the wave are perfectly okay while the core definitly is slightly better.

I have the core, been using it every day for a month or better now.All tools function well, having to open it to get at a knife blade does not bother me.I carry a knife so the core's blades are seldom used.It is a bit heavy, but feels good when using the tool-i don't mind paying a small price in weight ,it is a sturdy well built tool. The wave has its friends out there, but never had one to use so i cannot comment otherwise.enjoy your tool,See Ya!
