Scale wear for retired colors and StayGlo?
on: August 12, 2009, 07:29:40 AM
Like with translucent, white, and black scales showing wear easier, does anyone know how well Sage, Grey, and StayGlo wear?  I am just curious... I think I've narrowed down the scales I want for a Rambler to be one of the above three, but with that said, both Sage and Grey are discontinued.... (I like how they look; it's a shame their popularity wasn't great enough. :/)

Anyway, thank you.

I've switched out my Spartan to stay glows, been about a year now.
been in my pocket on the key chain and seen some good use, holding
up great. I can barely see some dirt (like finger-prints from dirty fingers)
but otherwise fine ;)

I strongly suspect the stay glow scales are made from nylon. Super durable stuff that.
A little Leatherman information.

You're right, they are Nylon.

As for the others, there are plenty of ways to polish up your scales of they do become scratched.  Get whatever you like.
Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.

I agree...and it's easy to replace scales if it needs to be done.

Yep, they easily just pop on with your hands (lesser people use small vices  :P :D).

Mmhmm, but I had an odd thing about not being able to really use retired items. :/  That's why I'm getting rid of my KF4, and a couple of my SAKs. :/

I'm just afraid it'll translate to retired scales, too. ~_~

Where can you get the stay glow scales?

I'm looking for some 58mm and 84mm ones.

So far as I know, 84mm Stayglo doesn't exist, either way, though, email either FelineVet or Rotokid. :)

How well does it glow? I had some glow stuff when fully charged remain easily visible after 24 hours, would be cool if the scale glow as well as those.

They glow for a bit but I wouldn't want to try and locate one a few hours later from the glow.  Rotokid is probably your only option for getting the scales separate.

I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.
