Total lack of discipline from the parents no doubt,this kind of behaviour is absolutely despicable and should not be tolerated by any society

Children can be just as cruel as adults, sometimes worse.  That's a combination of my memories of childhood and the stuff I see in the local paper.   The other week a boy broke into the chicken run at a local primary school and beat all the chickens to death with a tennis racket.  Why?  Because he's a little smurf is why     

I strongly believe that in situations where due to age suitable punishment can not be applied to the child the courts should punish the parents as if they had committed the crime.  I wonder if we might see a little more parental responsibility if that were the case?

Agreed sometimes kids should take full resposibillity for their actions society shouldn't keep letting them get away with it  

After all if you punished the parents then! they'll just go out and do it again as the cause has not been properly addressed IMO

That's true but below the age of criminal responsibility (10 I believe) I don't think its out of order to hold the parents fully responsible for their childrens actions.  Just my opinion.

I think once they discover the individuals then they should do a mental eval. 

Because actions like that isn't normal, pushing someone down, kicking someone cruel but normal behaviour
but taking an aresol can and trying to light it?

It's not too good is it? People seem to increasingly lack that moral restraint that prevents them from committing horrifying acts, and it has certainly spread to the kids. It makes me wonder what defines a human being

Yes there are instances when it's clear the parents should be held responsible and are! in cases of using children to shop lift and the likes,rightly those parent are prosecuted but when you have children out "supposedly" playing and up to no good well! that's a different story  

What do we do with those individuals? sadly not much IMO and sorry I'm not in favour of giving POLICE! more powers ATM as they seem to abuse that what is given to them:"puts on a tin hat"

This is tragic.  This beautiful little child has so much to deal with anyway and those idiotic little heathens decide to make it worse just to make themselves feel bigger and badder.  It's just horrible and makes me not feel very good about what I would do to a 10 and a 7 year old boy.

I don't know how someone could do something like this, but I do know it happens.  When I worked in physical therapy I had to work with a little one who's 8 year old cousin had doused her in gasoline and set her on fire...she was 6.  She was (and is) a beautiful little child who was iin such pain all the time after that. I've never forgotten her and I never will.

I know, Mike. I know what you meant. It's horrible and frustrating and I hope that they both find some way to be and feel safe.
Regarding those boys, I don't like myself very much when I think that my first reaction when reading about that was "eye for and eye".  It's natural, I know that, but it doesn't make me feel very good.  If it were an adult that assaulted me or someone else I know then I would have every right to defend and might be able to justify seeking vengence.  But I'm not very good at keeping a rational head about me when it's kids involved.  That little girl I spoke about that I treated?  I was almost fired because I almost knocked out her dad because he told her that she should stop whining and that it was her fault that she got hurt so badly.  I'm not sure if that makes me human or makes me just as bad.  I never did learn that lesson very well.  
If those boys are caught, I hope that someone puts the fear of God into them and makes them perform some kind of restitution for their crime.  I don't want them hurt, but they should learn that actions have consequences.  As far as the law will allow them to be punished, I think they should be.
