Yup, same as a pulley system as noth mentioned. Another good peripheral use for the SOGs are the fact you can use them as spreaders...try that with a Leatherman of Vic and the handles would fold in on you!
The PowerAssist is the SOG model MT that has AO (assisted opening) blades , that is spring deployed blades , were the user initiates the initial opening process & then wacko the springs flick the blades open . AO is illegal in a lot of countries , in OZ it is a very gray subject . Compound leverage is the gears in the plier mechanism that multiply the plier squeeze .My PowerAssist will hopefully find it's way too me in a couple of weeks
