How I spent my weekend
on: August 30, 2009, 06:15:08 PM
Well I went to grab my D2 Griptillian because my ZT was dull and guess what. It was dull too. Now I went into the knife drawer and found every blade I had from my sak to MT to tacs were all dull. So I finally just locked myself into the shop and did them all. I spent aprox 10 hrs watching tv and sharpening everything in my box. Now the wife has me doing all the kitchen knives.

I finally feel ok about my lazyness over the past several monthes.

i hate dull knives... at least the ones i use.
i did the kitchen knives a couple of weeks ago myself. it took a while but it's well worth it. i usually steel them right out of the dishwasher but about once a year they need a new edge.

Ten hours watching telly  :o It took you so long because you were watching telly and not paying attention to the sharpening  :D OR, you have a lot of sharps!

Hey John, I have a D2 Griptilian as well. I have the partially serrated 551. I really like it. How is D2 blade steel?

Thanks

Great, but you really need a jig to sharpen it. The crap is just so hard that you really cant just free hand it. I mean a sak only takes one or two passes on the dmt stone, but D2 steel well you are talking a crapload of passes.

Is yours straight edged or partially serrated? BTW, they are great knives, huh? I really think it's my favorite knife ATM!

10 hours? You've either got a buttload of knives or just took your time. I sharpened about 10-12 knives last night and it took me a little over an hour.

Were you trying to stay way from the wife?  :D
