The 300M has more tools that would be more practical for me and  :iagree: that the EOD isn't for me either :whistle: I do like the blade exchanger though :tu: :like:

Thanks LC :hatsoff: we have had that table for around 5 years already :ahhh when we first got married most everything we had was second hand and as time went on we bought new to replace things :tu: the last thing we probably replaced was the table :D we had been married around 17 years at the time :o so I guess it took us a while to replace everything :D

Happy STS everyone. Pick up another B.O. ST300 CC this past week. Pretty much in stellar condition for a 15 year old tool. Did my standard cleaning with isopropyl alchohol. A quick lube do the pivots. The a quick sharpening of the plain edge blade.  Now good as new and ready for some new adventures.

Hi all,
I'm considering modding my Swisstool X by replacing its plier head with that from the ST 300 / Surge (did it before with the Spirit and the Rebar, which went reasonably well).
Now, before I buy the ST 300 plier head (or the whole MT), I'd like to know some important dimensions in order to know that the thing will actually fit in the Swisstool frame. I've found all the relevant dimensions except one: the thickness of the plier head. So my question: does someone know the thickness of the ST 300 plier head?
Based on some measurements taken of pictures, I've figured that it should be around 5/16" (8mm), but there is too big of an error in these.
Would be greatly appreciated.

Is there anyone in the ST300 group who did a swap of the T-shank of the EOD version to the ST300M? Is it a one on one swap? I could be without the normal screwdriver in favour of the T-shank so I can use metal saws and larger wood saw.

Hi Desmodromic, I just saw your post in which you referenced an ST300M I modded a year or so ago. Yes, the mod is relatively straight forward. I removed the carbon scraper/awl and the small flat driver and swapped in the t-shank adapter and awl from the EOD version. To make your life easier, get a Pivot Tool for a Benchmade Knife this makes aligning all of the washers, shims, and tools so much easier. Also don’t forget to get the wrenches for the Leatherman Pivot Bolts. My first mod on a Rebar, I used vise grips to remove the pivot bolts and instantly regretted it.

 :iagree: The knurled screw wrenches make modding so much easier :ahhh They are definitely worth buying for even one mod but once you get them you can also use them to loosen and tighten the pivots of all LM tools that have them to whatever tension works best for you 8) :like:

Thanks for your reply Jones, really appreciate it. I just saw a nice second hand (returned) EOD version on Amazon for €80 so I will get that to salvage the parts. Will also take your advice as to get some of those wrenches.

now i want my ST300 back to whole, since i broked my ST300 awl in summer i dissambled it. i cannot send it to warranty anymore since its in pieces and screws are modded they wont repair it anymore (sended email to warranty and they said they wont fix it). Now my only option is to buy new awl to it and assemble it.

After years of on and off lurking I'm finally cool enough to join the club  8) 

Scored an absolute pristine condition black cap crimper ST300 last week. I don't think it was ever used other than being removed from the box; the pliers were still factory stiff and the blades are flawless and razor sharp! Just gave it a wipe with a thin layer of oil and it's good to go. 

 
 
 

My plan with it was to disassemble it and combine it with parts from a 300M and an EOD. I do want the cap crimper functionality on it but don't want to sacrifice the regular plier jaws like the EOD does so this would have been ideal. 
However, since it's in such a good condition and the plier head is out of production, I don't think I'll have the heart to destroy it and I'll have to go back to my initial plan of combining just an EOD and a 300M.  :P
