UltraFire A40 and UF-010
on: September 12, 2009, 10:27:03 PM
ok so on dealextreme they have both these torches for just about the same price... i want to know if anyone has either of them and an honest no BS opinion on them  I am looking for a LED light that is around the size of a solitare to tuck in with my wave.  the solitare is the right size but as everyone knows has about the same brightness as a BIC lighter...  thanks guys!!!!!

I thought I had one of those... but it turns out mine is the WF-602c.

I've had a couple different Ultrafire lights, and they've all been decent lights.

I tried to find a multimode AAA on DX with no luck. Don't both those lights you are referring to use CR123A batteries? I think it's going to be quite a tight fit in your wave pouch side pocket. I keep my Fenix LOD in my Wave pouch and it's pretty tight.

ok so now it is between the a2 and a6 ultrafire.  they are more then the others but fit the form factor and are bright for how small they are. i am leaning towards the a2 because of the clip.  what do you guys this?  yes i'd get 10440 recharge cells and a charger.

ecfiffer, this seems to be the light to get. I'm going to put an order in for the "upgrade edition" as soon as I write this. Thanks Blackbeard for the link. Looks like a great light from the review at cpf.

I agree, the Akoray K-103 is bright enough even on AAA and it has a very good build quality, nice beam and good throw because it has a deep reflector. It's sweet and it's my fave.

Probably rated through the emitter not true OTF projections.  Kinda like rating horsepower through the flywheel instead of to the wheels.

I'm not an expert but I guess those 200+ values we see on some lights (dx and elsewhere) are far too optimistic. Eventually, the true amount of light you'll get is a compromise between the emitter, the build quality itself and the kind of battery the flashlight is powered by. When I deal with cheap lights I usually cut the lumens and the runtimes in half and if the price is still good (especially with Cree LED's), I get them. ;)

A friend of mine just told me that he ordered a few lights from the web and one of them (a cheeeeeeeeeeeeap but kinda promising flashlight) is a gift for me! 160 lumens, AA powered, Q5 cree, very small and perfect to edc. I can't wait to try it and see, and yet I know that those 160 lumens is going to be more like 70/80.

ok so they did send me another one.  and it is brighter.  i doubt its more then 100 lumens which is still pretty bright for a dark area and lighting up the area within 25-30 feet of me.

i cant complain i mean the original light they sent me was not bad, and second light the sent me is better!  and i dont have to send the original light back to them.  how sweet is that?  2 for 1!  woot woot
