Warranty Cleaning
on: September 30, 2009, 05:15:17 AM
Freak accident at work.  My wave basically got covered with PVC glue (pretty much industrial strength glue) and dirt. I got some of it  off but the glue hardened.  I've tried to clean it but the pivots and hinges are almost completely stuck.  Any one experience anything like this? or close?  Did Leatherman replace it or clean it when you sent it in?

thanks

Did you try cleaning it with anything yet? Try some laquer thinner on it. Its very strong but wont hurt anything on a wave. Ive cleaned paint off of mine before, but not any glue, worth a shot though.

Or xylene, it'll eat through a lot of stuff given time.

Might try WD40,if that don't work, try acetone, never tried it on a multi, but have taken glue off of screwdrivers.

PS Welcome to the forums Waveman7,and if you use acetone, don't smell the fumes,or get to much on you.

I guess I should have said, I'm done trying to clean it.  Has anyone sent a multi in with that type of damage and had a good response from leatherman?  I will work on taking those pics to send in though.  thanks geoemt.

BTW. Thanks for the welcome.  I've lurked for a while.  Finally signed up.

Acetone is a good suggestion.

Never heard of any situation like this, so I'm keen to hear the result.

Welcome to MTO
