What the heck (rant)
on: September 29, 2009, 03:39:05 AM

Having bought a DSLR, I found myself in need of a new camera bag, I tried 3 bags that we had lying around, none of them had the size and protection I wanted so I looked for a new bag.  Every bag in town either yelled at the top of its lungs “I HAVE A NICE CAMERA IN ME, STEAL IT NOW” or they where poor quality.

So last weekend we where in Cincinnati (bigger stores) and my mom got a $89 bag and I got a $69 bag, and I have to say what the heck is it with camera bags why on earth are they so much.

Not the most important topic, but irritating none the less

Because they know after you dropped that much on a DSLR you can afford to pay for a bag.  :P

Everything photography is expensive.

Besides, I have never minded spending on a good bag because I know that all it takes is one accident and the bag protecting its contents, to make that expansive bag a good investment.

Try pacsafe bags they offer a little bit more security than other bags, Krumpler bags looks good also.

Sounds like a great deal.

Lowe Alpine Systems makes some of the very best gear available but it's quite expensive.  First rate backpacks, rucksacks, bags, etc.

I've had a couple of their full size backpacks and several rucksacks - all were excellent.

Their gear for photographers is supposed to be very good too.

I got a Naneu pro, Military Ops Lima, and it looks like it should be a great bag and should do a great job protecting the camera :tu:, just a little sticker shock :o

Next week I am going up to Mackinaw City, it should get a good work out up there.

The only thing is the Compass dose not work  maybe it has to do with the fact they put it right next to a magnet

My big bag is this..

I bought it around the time of the birth of my eldest.  It let me go wandering with him and have camera gear in the lower compartment and full nappy changing supplies in the top :D  So I've had it for over six year now and its been a good bag.

Recommended  :tu:
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

I've got an original Orion treker from Lowe and it's great musts be about 6 years old now and it's still like new, it's been dumped in rivers and the such while cycling off road and I've fallen on it plenty of times too and it's always protected the camera kit inside  :tu:

I just wish that someone made a camera bag with a water reservoir pocket, come on camelbak get onto it  :pok:
