1976 Dealer Catalog Pages on SAKwiki
on: October 03, 2009, 12:37:39 PM
Vincent has provided scans of two more 1976 Dealer Catalog pages.  They use some of the lesser known names, and a couple I had not heard before like 'Lady Victoria'.
Enjoy!

Yep.  There is my Craftsman again.....or is it a Master Craftsman????   I have seen the "mystery SAK" I have back in the States called both now.......Yet, my knife came out AFTER the pliers came out...hole in awl.....bottle opener opens half way.....etc.

It seems Victorinox liked to change names back then...

All the names are wrong, the Camper doesn't even have a saw! :ahhh

I want to go back to the days when I thought I had a handle on what SAKs were called.  :( ;)

I wonder what year they changed the name from the "Sturdy Boy" to the "Pioneer"?  The Dutchess looks cool too.  A lot of cool alox SAK's on the "Old Vic Alox catalog page".

Based on catalog information and the German names for the different lines I'd say the name of the Series (Civilan Alox Series) was always Pioneer. Of course at that time Victorinox did not name the individual Knives. This naming though for the Series may have come from Germany.  I do have a grey Victorinox Branded box labled "Pioneer Sturdy Boy", it's from the time period when they used Grey-Boxes with Red Retangular Victorinox Logo (someone might have information on the timeperiod for the packaging).  In the Box is a Vintage Red-Alox Pioneer.  SmartKnives also had the name attached to another Alox Knife, but may have updated his site by now.
