EDC Bag (Collection??)
on: October 15, 2009, 08:00:23 PM
I told ya'll I was bored...I've been taking pics all day.  Well for a couple of hours anyway.

Here they are and by the way, if anyone knows where I could get another Eddie Bauer bag like this one or something very very similar, please let me know.

And my primary EDC bag for right now: Eddie Bauer Guide Organizer (I have no idea what it's really called but I have lots of pics)

Timbuk2 fan then?!

I like that Eddy Bauer bag, looks great. I assume the pocket on the side can take a small water bottle?

If you're looking for something along similar lines, I have a Victorinox Flex bag which is pretty useful. It's like this in red:
http://www.businessclassluggage.co.uk/victorinox-flex-pack-mini-back-pack-p-108.html

I know there is a newer design of these around which is easier to get but I didn't like it as much. Quality wise, they are really good and the ratchet strap thing means you can convert it from a backpack to a shoulder bag easily - something I like as I can't do heavy stuff on one shoulder for long.

Eh, yeah I do like Timbuktu.  I have a tendency to find something i like and stick with it religiously.  All of those bags were bought on sale so I've never paid full price for one (although they did just come out with a very colorful bag that I'm very interested in!)
The pocket on the side would fit like a regular 16 oz plastic bottle or something of equivalent size.  I keep my wave in there.  Lots and lots of pockets though.  Kim wants it so i'm looking for something similar so I can give the Eddie one to her, or the new one if she wants that.  I swear that only my knives are safe.

They are nice, Mike.  I've beat the crap out of them and they just keep asking for more.  The little brown and gold one doesn't get quite as much use as the other two, but they are sturdy bags.  The cross strap that comes with them keeps them nice and secure when i'm on my bike.  Clean up is a breeze too...just wipe them off.  Good stuff I highly recommend.  I think they even have a camo patter or something for you tactical fellows! :D

Mike, all the one's I've gotten I've gotten in January right after Christmas.  They start really moving stuff out around that time or in the spring (around March, maybe?) and they get way way way cheaper.  If you want a custom bag then yeah they stay expensive but if you find one of their color combos that you like I recommend doing it that way.

Well, that's a very good point.  However, I do carry one of them everyday.  Never leave home without a bag.  It depends on what I'm doing.  If i'm on the bike it's one of the messenger bags (orange if i'm going to work the blue/green/red one if i'm about town).  If I'm out on my own like hiking or in the state park then it's probably the big or little green one.  If i'm out with Kim then it's either the little brown and gold one or the Eddie Bauer.  I also go in cycles: For a couple of weeks or a month I'll only carry the orange one..  Next for a couple of weeks the Eddie...etc etc.  It really depends but everyday I carry one of them.  So technically they are still EDC just depends on what block of time we're looking at.  LOL!

I seem to have a small Maxpedtion collection starting.  I have an OD Collusus coming my way (going to be a DSLR bag), and a black Jumbo (probably my office bag).  Still looking at others, but I need to get some accessories first.

Ooh, bags. Can I play? I like a bag. :D

Current collection. Main EDC bag is a G2 Kifaru E&E;

Or a Kifaru XRay;

Or a "Claymorganiser" - a G2 malice Claymore/Organiser/shoulder strap combination;

Or a Kifaru Zulu for those days that you need a bit more room;

And occasionally I go old-school with the G1 E&E;

Have you noticed a theme here?

I also received an ATS RAID 2 today but haven't taken a pic of it yet. Ex favourites include a Mystery Ranch 3DAP;

A TAD Gear FAST pack v.2;

And an ATS RAID;

Or an Emdom Wideload;

Or Aites Claymore bag;

There is a chance I may have a problem... :D

I told them you had a problem... they didn't believe me!

Then again, I've just spent the last 2 hours searching for the right size molle pouch to put on my new Pygmy. I do understand the need :D

I'll check 'em out - ta :tu:

I took some pics of my funky new gear:

Fatboy with PDA Holster (using it for my camera, as the iPhone just about fits in the front pocket):

My oh so sexy Vulture II, complete with Kydex sheath for Rapid Micra Deployment (TM), ST300 in the LM Molle sheath and the Garmin in a GPS pouch on the "Bat Belt" :D

And the back of the Vulture, soon to have a Mini Roly Poly added:

LOL.... well now...

I'm looking for one or two small preferably zipped pouches to go above the water bottle pouches on the sides of the Pygmy. Mine is black so that's what I'm after. I think the footprint is about 3 x 5" max.

I think the M-2 is a little too big and similar sized grenade pouches are too open for my uses. I found this one: http://www.shop4lessuk.com/product_details/TP002K.html  which seems to be along the right lines but overly complex and a bi pricey too.

So any ideas? :)

Nice bags Dave :D

I would consider your local surplus store before you go with patches available from the EDC related websites.

Why?

Well, you can (in my opinion anyway) get something that is much more unique than what everyone else has on their bag. Sure, you'll have to add the velcro, but.. I think it is worth it.

I found Navy liberty cuff patches to be a dead fit for the Fatboy.

Chris, the TOPS pouch in your link is bigger than an M2, more the size of an M! really. To be honest I wouldn't put a pouch in that location as you won't be able to use the water bottle pockets. Maybe a couple of these? http://www.heinnie.com/ehpXow813444/Pocket-Tools/Leatherman/Leatherman-Pouches/Leatherman-Molle-Universal-Pouch/p-94-222-382-2257/ They're pretty low profile. Dave's got one on his belt in his second photo.

Glorn, those bags look great, what a super idea! :)
