Its time for more photographs!
on: October 21, 2009, 12:47:11 AM
I just got the Super Timer through the door. Thought it was time for the Super Timer to meet the Time Keeper.

Both in their respective boxes and paper work.

The Super Timer on the left has Arabic numerals. The Time Keeper on the right has Roman numerals.

All the bits out on display.

A little Leatherman information.

Very nice. I love these knives.

Question on the Timekeeper - are the scissors riveted or screwed? Looks like a screw from the pics. If they are joined with a screw, is there a groove machined into the moving blade of the scissors for the end of spring to ride in?

Yes, the Time Keeper scissors have both a screw and the groove.

EDIT: Thank you Neil.  :salute:

Nice pic!
I used to own a Super Time Keeper. It was my very first SAK.

I just picked up a Super Timer on eBay NIB last week.  Same box, manual and Arabic numerals.  I bought a Time Keeper a couple weeks ago after Mr. Whippy posted his threat with both of them and his Cybertool Mod.  My Time Keeper has Arabic numerals on it though.  Aren't those with Roman numerals older and more rare?  Great pictures.  I'll try to take a picture of the two I have but I'm sure it won't come out as nice as any of your pics.

Ok, here is a rudimentary picture of my SAK Time pieces.

Is your Time Keeper 84mm?  Mine is 91mm, so is the Super Timer.  Your first picture makes your Time Keeper look to be shorter.

My second one you mean? That is just an optical illusion due to the height of the Super Timer and the background lines. Both are the same length.

If you look at your photograph, it looks like your Time Keeper is longer then your Super Timer.

Yeah, but my photography sucks,  :D  I thought it was an illusion because I've never seen any mention of a TimeKeeper being 84mm.  But with your collection, you never know.  What is the deal with the different numerals?  Does one style signify it being an earlier model than the other?  If so I would imagine your TimeKeeper is an older/rarer model because I bought mine at a store a few weeks ago.  The place was a cutlery store and they had a pretty decent selection of SAK's.  Nothing knowingly collectable though so if anything it was old stock.  That's fine by me though, I just wanted at TimeKeeper.  Did you get your Super TimeKeeper on eBay?  Your packaging looks identical to mine as well.  I just got mine at the end of last week, either Friday or Saturday.

Lucky you. I can only wish of having a store that carried SAKS in my city/surroundings. I live in a veritable SAK wasteland. As such, I have to get them all from either Tim (Felinevet), online stores, other people, and eBay.

Yes, the model with two Roman Numerals are the older versions. From what I have read off of SAKWiki, the Time Keeper was introduced in 91 and discontinued in 07. No info on the Super Timer, but I would imagine the timeframe is probably the same.

I know how you feel about living in an SAK desert.  That cutlery store is quite a drive it's not a place I go to very often.  My surrounding area has nothing.  I've scoured the area, including antiques shops, basically every place I even thought might have any SAK's.  Didn't find anything, although I did find a Case Camper in unused condition once.  So unless I feel like driving a couple hours to the cutlery store, which their stock doesn't change and I've pretty much looked it all over, I buy all my SAK's online too.  Felinevet has probably the best selection, especially when it comes to rare SAK's.  I'm always vigilant though, keeping my eyes open for that place I never would have expected.

The sad part is one of my timepieces run very slow.  It's too bad these don't have quality Swiss timepieces, I wonder if that would have made them more popular at the time even though it would have made them more expensive.

No idea really, shame yours isn't up to speed.  Would Vic. sort that under warranty?  Does anyone know who made the watch inserts?  On the back they look just like Swatch watches.

Loved the Swatch "Flik Flak" watch that my son had.  Really accurate too.  Too bad he demolished it (well, he and his dog did...)

Just checked...

Mine has "Swiss Made" on it, therefore it has to be assembled there...
