Cheap pen sized screwdriver set
on: August 03, 2010, 02:24:17 PM
Just wanted to share this one. I got it from my brother-in-law. It's a nice set of screwdrivers, pen-sized. Unfortunately the screwdrivers are very cheap and I doubt they will survive any hard use. Anyway, I carry them in my backback as I like the red color (looks almost like the ruby scales on my Huntsman lite) and I have some good screwdrivers on my SAK, too  ::) They might be useful one day  :pok:

No, can't find anything on it. Just "China" on the clip... It's a promotional give-away.

The body feels quite solid and well build, only the screwdriver bits feel and look cheap. Maybe I can find some better ones that fit.

I'd suggest seeing in Wiha makes compatible bits for the screwdriver; it's a neat little tool, though. :)

Are the bits normal sized hex bits? Looks large if that's the case

No, they are much smaller. They are about 4mm in diameter.

Is that a sort of standardized size for small hex bits (if there's such a thing)? Would be nice to have a smaller version of normal hex bits that could more easily be fitted into MTs, without taking the LM "let's make everything flat" approach

It is.  Wiha makes a set of pretty highly regarded hardened 4MM bits, and I believe that's the size Vic uses as well in the Cybertools.  It's actually pretty easy to find hardened bits in that size.

I never heard of Wiha, but I will try to see if I can find some better bits for it. Thanks for this info! Would be nice to have one or two Torx bits, too, to replace one philips and one normal screwdriver.

Seems to be the one I have! But my brother in law got it for free from a company who sells promotional stuff like that. He has a small business and from time to time they send him samples with his name and business information written on it in hope that he will order a batch. Most of the time pens or notepads, but from time to time cool stuff like that  :D

@Smitty44: Thanks for the link! I couldn't find if they ship overseas, but I have found a shop over here that sell the bits, too. And I have even ordered there, too! Never paid attention to their small tools section, I ordered camera cleaning stuff there... Might be something for my birthday list  :tu:
