thankyou awl
on: February 20, 2008, 09:38:25 AM
well i was out in the bush to day ( ozzie outback) and was replacing 2 emergency stop button on my rig but i need a drill to make holes for the wires to come thru then i thought ill use the awl it worked a treat ripping thru the plastic case
then i used the leathemrn to work on the wires and to put the button back together
so all in awl lol my leatherman got used heaps today
then i got called to the other rig to help out and they need their sample hose fixed but they said we dont have a hack saw i said i got the leatherman so out with the knife and it went straight thru the thick rubber
loven it
and to think i asked about 6 months ago what you need an awl for

It's called an awl because you use it awl the time.

Ahh come on, that was funny. Oh ok.  :-\

The Leatherman awl also does superb duty when used to remove an O-ring or rubber washer without significant damage to the rubber part. Something about the shape, I suppose.

Awl's are hugely useful, I really wish some of the MT manufactures wouldn't keep leaving them off there tools ::)

I always supplement whatever MT I EDC with a SAK with an awl because of the absence of an awl in most new model MTs. That's one thing I like with my Supertool because it has an awl.

Poking should be done with an awl, not a knife blade. You'll find the tip of your knife stays unbroken a lot longer that way. :)
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

A better pun for that last picture would be "look at my babies, I love them awl!"

I've thought about grinding the "for phillips" on my micra into an awl. Since I carry the charge, I have little to no use for it other than as a weak prybar. Hm..
Sure would like an awl on the charge. I use the mini screwdriver often enough that it blows my mind; either I didn't have the need before I had the tool, or realized the need after I got the tool. Still I often wonder if it wouldn't be more useful to replace it with an awl. What an awlfully boring story. Come one, come awl. Awleylooyah....Awleylooyah.

OK OK, I know it's not very funny, I'm awl done now.

I'm awl fed up with awl these awlful awl jokes.  You awl should be awlshamed of yawlselves!

AWL!

:D

On a side note I think awls are great.  The pokey masters of hole making awesomeness.  I try to get an awl into my edc - usually via a SAK, and alox SAK if I can.  Very useful little things.

Pokey = awl

cutting = knife

Awls are great. Any SAK or MT needs one.
